Spouse Open Work Permit - Online Application - Approved (Timeline)

Hi all,

I've applied for y Husband's OWP this morning. Got it applied through the Attorney in Canada. My husband resides in Bangalore, India. The processing time in India is 1 month and in Canada is 3 months as of today. My question is: Where would my husband's application be processed, Bangalore or Canada ? Please reply.

So it was an online application. And it will be processed in New delhi, I belive. The processing time for the online application is about 3 months. 1 month time frame is for the paper based applications which are being submitted by hand at vfs banglore, new delhi and so on

Hi,

I applied for my SOWP online this week. I got it applied from my wife's attorney in Canada. I'm staying in India. Where will my applications be processed? And, the CIC website changed it processing time from 2 months to 1 month in India? How long would the online processing take?

Not sure but thats how it goes. Due to this only reason I had my husband go to VFS New Delhi and submit a paper based application. It is a bit to hassle waiting in a line and then he had to drive about 6-8 hours but honestly the end result was fruitful.

My husband applied on 21st dec med req 7th jan med done 13th jan visa approved 27th jan. so it almost took a month and a week

And another question... does the spouse's educational background/level matter in case of SOWP? I ask this cz my spouse is grade 12 and after that he did apprenticeship and

worked with his father for his own business. Now he has been running his business successfully for the last 14 years.

My wife is working in Canada as personal care worker . i applied for dependent open work permit from Saudi online, Now cic as sent a request for my employment letter in Canada. Although i submitted a letter from my side as well as my spouse stating i will be dependent of my spouse she will be responsible for my expenses and accommodation.

What should i upload now i do not have any employment letter from Canada.

Please advise urgent.

Did you leave the employer information blank on your form when you submitted for a SOWP? Did you specifically state that it was an Open Work Permit? If you did, then CIC should not be asking you for an employment letter. I guess you should just submit an explanation letter stating that you are applying for an Open Work Permit, and does not have any employer.

Just sharing my timeline.
Me and my common law partner applied for an extension of our workpermit.
Well, he was on a closed work permit and I applied for his BOWP and mine for extension of SOWP.
Applied online on March 11, 2016. Inland Applicant.
Everyday since we submitted it, I always check our my cic account.
And today, April 19, 2016, when I check my cic, it shows updated and when I open it, it shows application closed. Final decision: Approved. But it doesnt show yet on my messages, like it did with my previous applications. So, i really hope it is indeed closed and approved. We will just be waiting for the confirmation mail then.

Hello All,

Sharing my details. My wife is in india. We applied for sowp online. We received medical request on March 16th, although we have attached it to the application upfront. Anyways we updated IRCC with medical information again.

Let me know if anyone receives updates. I am freaking out as it has passes 2 months processing time.


application filed online: 5th feb
medicals requested: 16th march
medcials sent: 18th march
medcials received confirmation from IRCC: 31st march
passport request: waiting
