Good afternoon!
Just hoping to get an estimate here.

My husbands PR was approved on October 14th and since then we have heard absolutely nothing from CIC.
We assume we are waiting for his COPR to get to him in Tennessee.
Is there an approximate time it usually takes for the COPR to arrive?

it takes as long as it takes for regular mail to arrive from ottawa. it can take anywhere from 1-4 weeks to get to a location in the US. since it's been less than 2 weeks, the only thing to do is wait. Remember, canada post doesn't deliver on saturdays or sundays, so you can't count those days in the delivery. CIC won't consider it missing until i think 6 weeks after it's been mailed out.

Thanks for the response! :)
We will continue waiting then, haha. Was starting to get a little worried.

There is no minimum income to sponsor your spouse, as long as you are not getting social welfare.

Hello, Guys!

It's nice to see you all around. I am quite new to this forum. I've just landed Canada last month. I applied only for myself but provided information of my spouse and only one son. Now I want to sponsor my spouse. As me, my spouse and son all did medical just on may/16, do I need to do medical again to submit it with the application? Experienced bro please reply.

You can apply with the current medicals but depending on the processing time, they may be required to undergo new ones.

I am just curious. we're sending our application this November. I am a legal resident here in USA. My extended visa will be expiring next September 2017 and my US permanent resident visa application is still pending for the last 17months now. If my Canadian spouse sponsors me, will it affect my canadian sponsorship application if I have a pending visa application here in the US?

Hi! I need your help. Anyone here received a similar letter from their Visa Office?

Based on the documents you submitted, I am not satisfied that your sponsor intends to reside in Canada once you obtain your status as a permanent resident.

If your sponsor can demonstrate that he will reside in Canada before or when you become a permanent resident, it may be possible to proceed with your application.

He was already approved as a sponsor and my file was already transferred to the Visa Office here in Manila. We are both in Manila and he has been living here for 4 yrs already.

Pls. advise what proof to send. Thank you.

Hello Guys

I will really appreciate your help and advice on my issue.

I am actually working and living in Canada and my PR will be expiring soon and I am in process of renewing it once I complete my Residency obligation requirements which is not before 2018.

Initially when I applied for PR,I was married and then got divorced and married again last year.

My wife is still in my homeland and I have not updated her yet in my records with CIC.

I moved alone to Canada and I am trying best to have her with me so that we can continue our family life.

What you guys will suggest.

Kam

if she wants to move to canada, you need to submit an application to sponsor her through spousal sponsorship. you can not just update your record to reflect a new wife. CIC has to approve her for PR status. as a pr yourself, you would be required to remain in canada during the application process. she can be in her home country or in canada as a visitor while the application processes.

Thanks for the reply.

Will a student visa be a good option.

Bearing in mind that my PR card has expired and I will meet RO only in 2018.

Regards
Kam

if she can get a student visa to study in canada, sure that is an option she can explore. being married to a canadian pr is not going to necessarily guarantee she will be approved. she will have to apply for school and fill out the application to find out.
