Perfect! Thanks so much for such a quick response.

Yes, its my credit card and I am the sponsor. I guess I will fill in all my details there - my DOB and my address aassociated with the Credit card.
Exactly.

Hopefully there will be no need for a refund :)

I had another question related to taxes..I read in another thread on the forum that I (canadian citizen) can claim my sponsored wife as a dependednt when I file for my taxes?

I got married in December of 2014 and doing my tax returns today and was pretty sad to see that I had to pay the govt a small amount. Now with the info I have read on this forum provided I am able to get some money back!!!! Yipppee!!!

Any other members have the same experience? My spouse back home is still studying and has zero world income and I support her by sending money every few weeks. I hope I won't doing anything wrong by claiming her as my dependednt and getting a tax refund. Also, wouldn't I have to put my non-resident spouses SIN number which she obviously doesnt have yet?

Any insight from others in the same boat?

When doing taxes for a spouse that doesn't have PR and therefore no sin number yet, they say to put 000-000-000 as the sin number for the spouse.

THANK YOU so much!!!! You truly are a champion member.... Do you see any problems with me filing the tax returns for 2014 with my spouse as a dependent eventhough I only got married to her end of Dec?

I just hope I am not doing anything to invite the wrath ofCRA.

After adding my spouse as a dependednt I'm getting a decent return back...almost enough to cover the application fees :).

Love this forum and the valuable contributing members!!!

I'm not entirely sure. I got married mid year and my spouse was landed and had a sin number by the time we had to do taxes.

Hopefully someone else with more experience in this will respond and let u know of their experience. Good luck.

my wife sponsored me and my son to come to canada. i came to haiti to foolow up on our application. we were told that i wasa missing the rprf the medical report and police certificate. in april 2014 i submited all of these application to the canadian embassy in port au prince. before my wife returned to ottawa we again went back tothe embassy in port au prince to find out if there was anything else we can do to expedite the process. the clerk told us no. in november 2014 i again went back to the canadian embassy to get a status update and was advised that they never received the medical report. i went back to the doctor and got a letter stating that the medical report had been submitted electronically since april 14 2014. i was then asked to resubmit another police clearance certificate. in january 2015 i went in for a status on the application and was told that the consular looked at my file on the 9th of january 2015 no decision was rendered. i went back to the embassy on thursday march 26 2015 and was told that they no longer have my file and that it was forwarded to the port of spain office for processing. my question to you all is this. at this stage how much longer do you think it will take for me to get an answer? i do however see that alot of people are getting answers within about 9 months. i am just wondering if they are going to look at my application from the very beginning or are they gong to finish off where the consular officer left off in haiti? will be required another medical and police report as it will be more than 3 months? i am also in the process of procurring an RCMP record check will that out in my application at all? any feedback you can provide me would be greatly appeciated.. Blessings to all :-\

We are sending a lot of pictures attached to our application. Do they give the pictures back or do they keep them?

As far as I know, you won't receive any document/evidence back.

It depends on the visa office. I got everything back except for the actual immigration forms and the police check. Every single other thing was returned.

Best to send photo copies of things if you aren't able to part with them, as some people don't receive things back.

I was on as a dependant on my husband's taxes from Sept 2012 (the day I arrived in Canada) until end Jan 2104 (which was when I started working as I got an Open Work Permit with my inland spousal sponsorship application). We have now linked our tax returns with my temporary SIN for 2014 to ensure that I am removed as a dependant from his. We had no issues and did get some $$ back!

Thanks for your reply Annabell.

My case may be just a lil different....As I mentioned in my post earlier, in my case I am a canadian citizen who got married in Dec of 2014 to an Indian citizen....She is a student in India still and I have been sending her money to support her studies and day to day expenses. If I were to claim her as dependent on my tax returns for 2014 I am getting over 1K back instead of owing to theCRA. I have applied fo her sponsorship but that will take its own sweet time.

I just dont want to do anything to invite the wrath ofCRA by claiming something I shouldnt have.
