If you received the AOR, it means they will not send it back to you. They may follow up foranything missing. Your suggested approach is the right way to proceed.
If the birth certificate already states that it’s the certified copy, do I still need to bring that to a notary and have the notary certify that it’s a certified copy?

The current birth certificate (translated) reads:
This certified copy is issued pursuant to the provisions of article 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, and 45 of the Civil Code for the State of Chiapas and article 9, paragraph XVIII and XXVI, 68 and 93 of the Civil Registry Regulations for the State of Chiapas. The electronic signature stamped on the date of issue is currently legally valid and probatory in accordance with legal provisions on this matter.

You really should read the instructions more carefully, notably here:
https://ircc.canada.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

Select Mexico and you get this:
"Mexico
Official documents issued by this country must be government-certified true copies (copies certified as authentic by the government office that issued them, signed and stamped with a seal).
  • If you got a divorce in Mexico, submit copies of
    • the divorce certificate issued by the “Registro Civil”
    • the divorce court order issued by the family judge"

So I read this to mean that what you have already is what you need.

I don't mean the instructions comment to beat you up but as a warning that the instructions really do matter.

Thank you! This is my first time so I want to be careful. I’ve read the instructions of the application but I’ve never come across the link you’ve sent which is very helpful. Thank you very much.

just apply the police certificate online or from the police station your household registered. you dont need a character letter and you dont need an agency, you apply it by your self.
We are in canada and not in china. there isnt an online application process available we have searched and going to china is not possible 1 it will take too much time to apply for visa get it approved ect as well as alot of money as he lived in 2 different china cities he would have to fly to both

Hi all. Sorry if I’m in the wrong thread! Please redirect me if so. My partner and I recently submitted an inland sponsorship application. I am the sponsor, he is principal applicant. We met common law requirements many months ago and have excellent proof of our relationship being genuine. I have a lot of confidence in our application. We recently received the AOR and plan to apply for his OWP. He has never lost status while living here but has worked illegally as he had a visitor permit. We were honest in the PR application about his illegal work.

I understand that the public policy, so long as you have submitted an inland family class application, offers a sort of protection from deportation for out of status applicants while the PR is being processed. My question is - if he is honest about his illegal work in his OWP application will this affect his ability to get a OWP? Or will they deny the OWP while the PR is being processed. I don’t know if the OWP and PR will be viewed and assessed with the same public policy so am curious to hear what others’ experiences have been.

I also understand there may be very severe consequences to misrepresentation. With the processing time of inland applications being 24+ months, we are really keen to get his OWP. We are stressed as I’m sure many others are too!

I read on the forum that there are agencies that can help to apply for you in China. BUT I have no idea what are the legit agencies.

Hi everyone.
We applied on October 17 2024 outland sponsorship and last meaningful update I got was on 05 of Feb 2025. After that some strange updates only in the tracker like bg. check changing to "complete" and back to "in progress". So I have applied for the GCMS records, but those are also stuck it looks like.
I applied end of March on 30th, but got no answer whatsoever.
We both (sponsor and PA) live abroad and have no idea how to contact them? Is it okay to ask about GCMS notes using the webform or how to get any updates really? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Hi everyone.

The period between completing the biometrics and medical and next time you hear something meaningful is unnerving, but normal.

Thank you very much, I think I will do that, since I genuinely will not have an address and I think they will be happy with me updating it every 3-4 weeks :D

I have also noticed that people here know which office does the processing for their application, how do you guys know that? All the emails they sent to me doesn't mention it
It came with the sponsor approval email. They wrote about sending our file to the VO responsible for applications from our country, and that was Vienna. They also sent a link to a list of countries and VO's.
:)

Need guidance regarding filling out the outland spousal application. During the filling IMM5669. It is asking for fill out Schedule A. I am confused what to include in this. My spousal is a doctor and worked as a government employe for 1 year, and now she is doing her training in general surgery in government hospital. Do I need to include that in government position section or it is only who those who worked as civil servants or judges?

They do not provide specific guidance. My view is at minimum she can decide based on who her employment contract is with - eg even if it's a 'government' hospital, if the contract and paycheque is from the hospital and named as such, no issue. (Depending on country the hospital may be a govt-owned corporate entity, a trust, or any number of other such entity types). For schools in many countries, the schools are run by school boards - again, separate entities.

That said, I'd lean to putting it as government if the actual employer is the ministry of health or similar. It doesn't necessarily cause issues for immigration, they've seen it before.

Thank you for your detailed response. I was confused about what to do because, in the Schedule A, it states to add positions if you have a government role, and it includes examples such as civil servants, judges, or police officers in brackets. This made me wonder if I should include doctors as well.

Hi
I am a Canadian citizen living abroad where I met my gf(who is a foreigner) and planning to get married soon and eventually move back to Canada.
Questions are:
Can I start my application here(abroad) before moving?
If Yes...Can I apply for her visitor visa since I am planning to go first?
What would be best outland or inland?
