So, I have to put that receipt inside the application package to show that we performed the test. Is that right?
yes, if you choose to do the medical before you send the application, the "emedical" receipt goes in the package. you can also choose to wait until after sponsorship approval to do the medical exam, and at that point you would need to send CIC copy of the receipt.

just so you know, some people are saying that for outland apps, all the paperwork needs to go in the package upfront, though there are recent applicants who did not do that, and still got sponsorship approval (so that's why i'm suggesting you can do both). so i would investigate a bit more about that! my basis for saying it works either way comes from this thread (page 3). there are 2 outland applicants who say they waited to submit medical and/or police records. i sent mine upfront.

If you wait, it will add 2-4 months to the processing time.

Hi

My file was submitted on 10th march 2014 in Canada along with medical and PCC. we received sponsorship approved on 9 th April and i got a letter from CHC, new Delhi with UCI number on 24th Apr. The cic website shows decision made under my husband name and application received under mine ( which says your application is received on 10th march and medicals have been recv). Since then there is no update on the website nor i have received any communication from CHC, new Delhi.

Can anyone tell how much more time it will take to get the visa, because what i read the processing time as 13 months on cic.. which i think is tooo long time..

You can join the march applicants thread as they are in same timeframe as you and they can tell you where they are at in terms of the next expected communication from cic. There are several new delhi applicants as well.

few concerns:
after submitting all the requirements in my processing center, cic now requested a new schedule A should be filled
but my mistake is,when my spouse was filling the Schedule A,she made the elementary school 6 years instead of 9years cos that is how it is in my country, additionally, cic requested for my police report and medicals as well
1.what happens in case there are slight changes to the new schedule A with respect to the old one
2.what are my chances after all this request especially the police report and the medicals,is there any positive sign of going to be called soon for passport request?
please i need your advice

This makes sense. I was reading the instructions given for United States for the Family Class sponsorship application and I was wondering why they'd want to know so much about people who would not be coming to Canada with me.

lounge can't you ask someone from your family that knows (other relatives)? or maybe you have some official documents where you can see their date of birth? (your birth certificate should indicate their dates as well - at least mine does.) not sure CIC will be too happy is you explain them you forgot. try to find them somehow.

Hey,

I will file PR of my wife by first week of june. Can i apply for her work permit after that? If yes, do they give work permit or reject mostly like they do in case of visitor visa?

assuming you are applying inland, the open work permit can be submitted with the application. The work permit will not be processed until AFTER stage one approval, which is about a 8-9 month wait. For now, she will need to maintain visitor status to maintain status, as i don't believe sending in the application gives her implied status. IF you are applying outland, she will not be able to apply for an open work permit.

I am an Indian citizen but USA resident currently. I am in USA since past 3 years and working here on student F1 visa and H1B is in progress. I plan to do court marriage soon. He is a Canadian citizen. Does it really matter in application process or duration if we do court marriage in Canada or USA ? We want to file my documents soon so that I can move to canada and also get work permit as soon as possible.

there is no difference where the marriage takes place, though it's quicker to get a marriage certificate after a ceremony in the states. you will not get a work visa for applying outland, that is only for inland applicants, and it's only processed after stage 1 approval, which is 8-10 months. technically speaking as an outland applicant, you may already be able to land as a pr in that time, depending on which visa office handles your file.

considering you are currently studying in the us and plan to work there, my best guess is that you will be applying outland. again, there's no work visa for outland applicants, so you have to wait to be approved for pr status. a pr will not need a work visa, because they have legal status to work.

you will not be able to "move" to canada until you are given pr status. you can "visit" canada as an outland applicant anytime you want, assuming your home country is visa expemt.
