Hi all,

This is all new to me. I'm a recent member and have spent the day reading various posts which have been really helpful, so thank you to you all for that!

I'm British and have been with my girlfriend since November 2012. We lived together in South Korea where we worked for 2 years (the apartment wasn't in our names though). In August 2014 we left Korea and travelled around Asia and eventually to Canada in October. I met her friends and family and stayed there for 7 weeks. In turn, she then came with me back to England in December for Xmas and New Year and eventually went back to Canada in Feb 2015. We've been working in our own countries since (although I visited her during Easter). :'(

I'm visiting her this summer for 4 weeks and during that time we're going to marry ;D! It'll be a small service with not too much fuss, but we wanted to do it and also figured that it'd help to apply for sponsorship as spouses rather than conjugal partners (which would be hard to prove). I will have to come back to UK 6 days after the wedding to resume work, but my contract expires in November so I'm looking to leave and do what I can to be together with my new wife. We plan to settle in Toronto.

So questions are: When we get the wedding certificate, we're going to apply for sponsorship straight away. I'd like to get it processed asap. Would it be better if we both went to live in Asia and applied through the Beijing or HK offices (we're thinking of working in Taiwan for 12 months), or would it be better for me to come to Canada in November/December and stay there until it's processed? Can we do this? Should we do inland or outland applications? The London office is currently taking 28 months to process applications so that's really slow.
We'll have spent Feb-December 2014 apart so ideally we'd not like to spend any more apart.

Apologies if this seems like an amateur post, but maybe that's what I am.

Thanks in advance you lovely people.

What you're seeing is completely normal. Not sure why you think this looks like a rejection...

Thank you for the reply.

My concern was that how did they made decision in 2 months? They say that the procedure is almost 2 years long.

Could you please explain in details? Why do you think it's normal??

There are two approvals. Sponsor approval and then the applicant approval. The approval you see is the sponsor approval (which comes first). Again, perfectly normal and expected.

Ok, I didn't know about this. The only thing I know was it takes about 2 years.
Thank you. It's a relief.
What do I expect next?

It depends. Some people received an email the same day (for example some of May applicants), some people receive it a week or two later, some people never receive it. The same with mail - some people get the letter a week/two weeks later, some don't. Some people never receives an email or a letter, some receive both. Why is it like this? I have no idea. All we can do is wait.

Thank you!
May applicant here. And our status is Decision Made but my husband in Canada didn't receive an Email that's why I'm wondering. You said some are not receiving any Email nor letter so i guess that's just normal. Hopefully next would be PPR
Thanks for your help Goodluck to all of us.

We have exactly the same timelines. My application was in CIC on May 15th also, I've got AOR on June 17th and SA on July 15th. All I see in eCAS in 'Decision made' for my wife (the sponsor) but we didn't receive an email yet. So don't worry - we are 98% approved. I will still call CIC today to confirm it.

Yes, some people receive an email the same day the decision was made, some don't. For example I didn't. All I see in eCAS is 'decision made' so we are in the same situation.

Edit: So my wife (the sponsor) called 1-613-944-4000 from outside of Canada and the officer told her that she can not give my wife details about if we were approved or not. The officer also said that we have to wait for the letter (not an email) which is being prepared to be send to us.

My question is: was anyone able to check (by calling CIC from outside of Canada) if he/she was approved as a sponsor?
Thank you for your help!

It is submitted that I am PR in Canada and sent documents of my spouse for family sponsor on 15th May 2015 and received e mail from CIC that my file is under process since 15th June 2015. currently, processing time for approval of " Person who is sponsoring " is 55 Days, which matured on 10th July 2015. But , till date I have not received any response from CIC. I am worried why CIC has not contacted me since processing time has already lapsed. please guide me as to whether my application has been approved or not ????

The same here. We received an email yesterday confirming my wife's SA (the email was sent two work days after we saw a change in eCAS to 'Decision made').

We saw "Decision Made" status on July 17 and Email was sent July 20.
On eCAS it says They have sent the correspondence on July 14, that's why I'm asking the other time if it will be thru Email or Mail. Anyway, Congrats to all of us! And hoping for passport request very soon!
