IP-2 : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip02-eng.pdf is also another WRT Family Class sponsorships. It's more outland-centric, but if the answers are not in IP-8, they will be in IP-2.

That's where most of the confidence of my answers/questions comes from. They also have operational bulletins here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/index.asp . If they temporarily change procedure, it will need to be an OB.

EDIT: This is the best OB: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2017/ob636.asp

Take THAT Donnie!

In Canada, there is a provision that divorce can be applied for without consent. This is used when you cannot locate the estranged partner to work out divorce paperwork. It's equivalent to an uncontested divorce.

In Hong Kong, they do have a similar provision (apparently -- not at all a law geek from HK, so you might have to do some research here):

Separation Without Consent- Parties have been separated for two years and now of one of the concerned parties wants a divorce. The spouse's consent is not required in this case.

With respect to the notice CIC sent you -- you did know they were going to ask for divorce certificates (or paperwork to prove it was granted), right? That said, you can write them a letter explaining that you have applied for "Divorce in Hong Kong on the grounds of Separation Without Consent. You will send them the paperwork once it becomes available." Provide proof of filing (a clerk will give you paperwork to state the court has received the paperwork).

CIC will suspend processing until they receive that proof.

Profiler is right. Your partner have the divorce certificate first before he can sponsor you. It is needed and part of the requirements if you previously married.

Whoa... I just got an email with the subject: "Professor Profiler, please reconfirm your consent"

I thought I was in a parallel universe for a second.

junk mail?
I got a junk call this morning. Someone pretending to be a CRA agent... It took me 5 seconds to hung up.

That's the thing... it's from a legit person at McGraw-Hill. In a past life, some few years ago, I was a prof ("Part-Time") at a local community college. A "Subject Matter 'Expert'". Loose--very loose- terms here...

The only course I used McGraw-Hill for (most were from my own hand-made, love-injected learnin's) was "Mathematics". Someone should issue those kids a refund, if their math class was after 10:55am...

No one has used those two words in close proximity since like 2015. "professor" and "profiler".

Hey guys i got a landing interview tommorow...Any tips ....photos needed for sponsor or applicant or both ?
Photos only for the PA, they are for the PR card. But the sponsor should have photo ID. Just follow what was listed in the landing appointment letter and don't stress, everything will be fine and done quite fast. Congratulations!

Lol, CIC just send me AIP letter, even though I already have landing appointment.

Outlanders get PPR's, unless they don't need a visa in their passport to cross the border. In the case of American outlanders, they only get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) that they take to a Port of Entry to sign with the CBSA. At that time, the CBSA applies for a PR Card for them and admits them to Canada.

Inlanders are invited to a landing interview. They are given the COPR there, and sign at the same time. The CIC officer will then send the PR Card request in.
Thx so much for the info

When did you apply again? Refresh my old remembery...

Keep in mind this: In as little as 2 years from the time they grant your PR (and they will), you can apply for citizenship. That process (from what I hear) is pretty quick. Benefits? You can vote; you can apply for a blue passport that may give you freer movement, etc.

You can leave if there is an emergency. Generally it's only a problem at the border. As long as you can cross, you're ok. Don't stay out for more than 30 days.

On the brighter side: on father's day, my son, my dad and I worked my car's electrical. What's a father-son-grandson event like that, without the obligatory electrical fire? Yup, smoke curling over the engine within 5 minutes. Good times :)

EDIT: It wasn't a terrible burn -- it was contained to the starter motor. The brushes fused to the armature. Makes for an easy diagnosis and has long since been fixed :).
I am september 1
AOR 0ctober 4
Then they request schedule A and 5406 from cpc-m March 20,2017
Then cpc-vegreville request pcc and schedule Aapril 10,2017, then they message me 30 days after to inform me them information was uploaded,
I been easy since, easy like sunday morning
I been here in the flask since August 2013, if i get 1/2 day for each day i been here ( i think that's what it is), then citizenship is around the corner.
Am not making it stress i, when they call i will answer, until then , i just live.

So 3 generation of you fixing one car. Hahahaha 3 the hard way? The good , the bad, and. . . . . The third person
Did it get done? Will it be able to pass emission? Ha ha ha
It wasnt a Lada?

I hope so! But it starts to look like 2015 July and August applications... Most of us were processed much after sept, oct, nov 2015 applicants. I hope CIC did not jump to June/July 2016 skipping April/May just to reduce their official processing time...

sad to think about this, it felt like there was hope and then all of the sudden no progress at all, we are beginning of April 2016 applicant, got DM on sponsor side a while ago but since then nothing at all, hopefully this will all be finished before the end of 2017
