Hello, I just got married and me and my wife are not want to be apart since she has things in Canada she needs to do for herself. I am more than willing to be here with her but I would like clarification on what we need to do to get started to apply for my residency here. Do I need a physical exam? Do we need the marriage certificate right away? We're trying to do this is clean as possible so we don't mess up. Thanks in advance.

I've read it all for the most part but it's just a lot of information to take in at once. Do I need my marriage certificate when I start this process?

As clearly stated in the guide and on the checklist, yes. You really need to go through the entire application package a few times.

My visitor status is also about to run out. Is it advisable for me to put in the form that I'm going to be applying for residency or should I say something different? I can't apply just yet as we need the marriage certificate and such.

I’ve attached a few links you may find helpful. But honestly the guide has all the answers you are looking for. I know it’s detailed and lengthy but unfortunately this process is complicated and requires a lot of attention. I spent many weeks reading through the guides over and over again before even starting.

To answer your other question in your OP, yes you will need a medical exam from one of the approved clinics but not until you’ve already applied and they will send you a request to do so.

Yes, put in the visitor extension app that you are applying for sponsorship. Pay the full $1040 PR fees and include that receipt.

I don't have the full amount just yet and I'd need some time to gather the remaining 490. But I can pay the fees without putting in the application? Because as I've stated, I can't apply without my marriage certificate and that's going to take a month and my visitor status will expire before that date

Yes, you can pay the fees ahead of time.
