Hi everyone,

I've received an invitation for express entry, I'm preparing my files.

I have a brother who is a permanent resident, but for over a year now he has not been living in Canada, he has returned to Algeria. He is going to go back to Canada but he is blocked because of Covid.

How can I replace the Utility and Hydro bills in my file?

I specify that he pays taxes because he has a company based in Canada and he works by internet so remotely, can the proof of taxes replace the bills?

You can not claim sibling points if your brother is not in Canada. Its clearly mentioned on Canada.ca website. The sibling should be living in Canada to claim points.

The problem is that I've already received my invitation, how can I fix it, I have 506 points. My brother doesn't live in Canada because of the Covid problem and will go there after the borders open. As I mentioned, he has a business based in Canada and has even rented a garage to drop off his stuff.

Can I decline the invitation and then delete the fact that I have a brother from my profile and wait for the next extraction?

You should decline this invitation and create another profile.

I declined the invitation. I changed the information on my old profile, I now have 491 points. Why create a new profile?

Hello All,

I see this is the right thread to get clarification on my documentation to be submitted to prove Sibling relationship.

mr.preetsingh

I have a quick question. I am claiming points for Sibling. To prove the relationship, I have to submit my passport along with my brothers passport. But, my parents Sur names are printed slightly different in both our passports.

Other documents available for proof:

1) I have our 10th mark lists with same Father name
2) Old Family card displaying all our family member names (I can get translation for this). In new family card my name is missing.
3) My birth certificates has wrong names of my mother. Father name is OK

Kindly confirm if an affidavit with a notary will be enough for proof.

Appreciate any suggestions.

Birth certificate is mandatory for sibling relationship. Utility and Hydro bill is required to prove sibling is living in Canada.. PR card is required to prove sibling is Permanent Resident. Passport is required to prove Citizenship. Marriage Certificate is not necessary

Can passports of both can't work as sibling relationship? I want to save myself from translation thing and brother's doesn't even have a name

NO

But I read this on https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html
  • Proof of the relationship of the applicant or the accompanying spouse or common-law partner to the family member must also be provided (e.g., a birth certificate, an official document naming the applicant as a relative, a copy of the inside back cover of the relative’s passport showing the relative’s parents’ marriage certificate, legal adoption documents and any other documents that prove or describe the relationship).
