They still haven't changed the faulty postal code back to the right one in Ecas.
We sent them an email last week requesting they change it back.
I think we'll wait another week, and if nothing changed by then, we send them a fax with a reminder and a copy of the email. Before Christmas.

Guys/gals, need some help!!

I received an email from my VO requesting for an FBI clearance (nothing else, just that one listed). And they want it in 45 days. I checked the FBI website and it takes about 8 weeks to process. What do I do???

Also, I would be visiting my wife in Canada in two days, I would be there until the end of the month. If I were to get the fingerprint/photographs here, I would be rushing things; I am thinking I can have the fingerprinting/photograph done in Alberta (Wetaskiwin) and send it to FBI from there.

Please advise, I am in panic mode right now and need everyone's advice.

Here is the content of the letter and the procedure for requesting an FBI clearance:

How or where do I obtain one?
You should:
- get a cover letter and fingerprint card from the FBI. You can download these from the
FBI website in the Related Links section at the bottom of the page or write to the address
below and have them mailed to you.
- have fingerprints taken. You can have this done by:
- a local police department or
- a private fingerprinting business.
(When you have your fingerprints taken, you will need photo identification.)
- include a Certified cheque or money order for the fees, payable to the U.S. Treasury
- mail the letter, fingerprints and fee payment to:
FBI, Criminal Justice Information Services Division
Attention: SCU, Mod D-2
1000 Custer Hollow Road
Clarksburg, West Virginia 26306
U.S.A.
Processing times are normally between 16 and 18 weeks. The FBI will send you the results of
their check. That will be your police certificate. You should send the card and any attached
documents to the CIC office processing your file. All police certificates must be originals.
Photocopies will not be accepted by our office

Hey

I am pretty sure you can have your fingerprints taken in Alberta, you just have to find out if it is the Local police, a private agency or the RCMP. All provices are different in that regard.

My mom had to also get her FBI fingerprints, but if I remember correctly you could ask for it to be expedited due to the circumstances, I guess you can call them and find out if this is a possibility.

ashwooddream, I was working in the US when I got married and my wife joined me there on a dependent visa. Before I applied for her Canadian PR, I got the FBI clearance for her and it took approx 6 weeks. But for a couple of my friends, it took only 4-5 weeks. So my understanding is it would not take 8 weeks. Regarding the fingerprints, it's very easy. The whole process of taking the finger prints and mailing them to FBI took us 2 hrs. It's very simple, just call the FBI call center and tell them the city where you live and they will let you know of places where you can go and get the finger prints taken. Just go there and it'll take 30 min for you to get the finger prints done after which you just have to pay the fee and fill some info and mail it. It's a simple process. You should inquire about the timeline when you call the FBI call center and tell them about the letter you received from immigration and ask if there is a way to expedite it. Good Luck.
