It's being almost 2 years I'm applying for jobs but it seems like without the visa they don't even take you in consideration...and plus my job is very specific so u know it's not easy...I could get a transfer with the same company I'm working for but I would like to have a plan B in case it's not gonna work...
We got married on last April and we sent our documents on July...

I know it can tough. Personally, I would start looking now - for positions that will be opening up in the new year. And just explain in the cover that you are being sponsored for PR by your wife and should be a PR by December or January.

Unfortunately I don't have any news about the interview yet, when I got the gcms notes the VO recommended that I need an interview and this happened on July 7th but still nothing! 2 months and a half have passed and they haven't scheduled it yet >:( I guess I have to wait longer :(

Look on the bright side - they seem to book interviews quite quickly (within a month) and the last couple people walked away with their visas that day. :)

I'm still waiting for ours even though we mailed it 20 days ago. I'm not complaining...just saying, an interview is stressful but it seems to get the job done much faster.

Do u mean dec 2014?! How long is gonna take to receive the PR card? Are u already eligible to work when they will put the visa on ur passport?!

Well judging by the spreadsheets most applications are processed 6 or maybe 7 months after SA. So I would calculate 6 or 7 months after SA and think that is when you can land in Canada.

Once you land, you can apply for a social insurance number right away. You don't need to wait for your PR card in the mail.
You can use your CORP - confirmation of permanent residence and your passport to apply. I read on here that you can even apply at Pearson airport but I'm not sure about that. If not, you can just go get and it from a Service Canada station. I'm pretty sure they give it to you on the spot.

Thank you Panos for answering to us. Do you think would be a problem because is gonna be the third time that my greek partner will extend his visitor visa? And should we say the reason of this extension that we applied for pr through common-law?

A&S

You are welcome! I don't think that your partner is gonna have any problem for another extension! On the contrary they might give you an extension for more than six months if you tell them that he applied for family sponsorship through common law.

Earlier today we got an email from Rome saying our visa has been finalized and has been mailed to us at the following address....

I don't know if this is normal or because with the copy of his passport I included a letter with our address because I had only updated our address online a week or so before the PPR so I just wanted to make sure they had our updated address on file.

So it took them 2 weeks from receiving the copy of the passport to issue the visa.

Finally, the process is finalized ;) So it took only two week, pretty fast :) Did your ECAS change?

Just checked, it is still "In Process" I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but now it also says medical results received, I think it happened around our PPR.

Yes you mentioned it before. Strange :o I have been checking ECAS for an update these days but as it seems people receive the pass before ecas update to DM ...This means that updating ECAS is not a regular process :-[

@ cls...Do u think it will be a good idea to ask them how long they are going to hold my pass? :-\ Also where should i send my email? they have sent me email from different addresses for each communication .
