Renewal of Study Permit and TRV renewal

Hi All,

My current study permit is expiring in 5 months from now. I need to travel abroad for almost 6 months on exchange and holidays.
Can I get my study permit renewed now (although the current study-permit will expire in 5 months)?

Any ideas please?

Also, after getting the study permit renewed, where should I apply to get new TRV (the travel visa)? There are many consulates in USA, in New York city, Buffalo, Detroit, Washington, Seattle etc. Which visa office is better to apply for the new TRV (after having the new Study permit)?
