NAVIGATE THIS PAGE
AINP application processing
Nomination certificate maximums for 2015
AINP status updates
AINP application volumes and status by AINP Stream/Category/Industry
AINP application volumes by occupation
AINP confirmation of receipt of applications
Keeping your AINP application up to date
As previously announced by the federal government, select Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) applicants who applied to the AINP before July 1, 2014, and who will meet their four-year cumulative work permit maximum in 2015 may be eligible to obtain a one-year work permit without a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). If you are among select applicants who applied to the AINP before July 1, 2014, in low-wage LMIA-required occupations, your employer may be eligible to receive a low-wage cap exemption when applying for an LMIA. Obtaining a new work permit will allow these AINP applicants to remain eligible for consideration for an AINP nomination. Visit the CIC website for more information.

Unfortunately, not everyone who applied to the AINP before July 1, 2014, will be eligible under this initiative. The AINP is working to contact those that may be eligible under this initiative. The AINP will not respond to inquiries regarding this initiative. If you are eligible to participate, the AINP will contact you directly before your work permit expires. Advise the AINP of any changes to your contact information or employment as soon as possible. This will help to ensure that the AINP is able to contact you.

This page was last updated on May 20, 2015, and will be updated every two weeks.

Note:
Please read the important information on this page about

how the AINP processes applications and current AINP application inventory
things to keep in mind if your application is accepted by the AINP for processing
AINP application processing

AINP applications are processed and assessed based on

labour market information
volume of applications received
the date the application was received
Note:
The AINP does not process applications on a first in, first out basis. This means that the AINP is unable to provide a processing time for your application. Each application is assessed individually and some take longer than others to be processed.

Nomination certificate maximums for 2015

The AINP is authorized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to issue a maximum of 5,500 nomination certificates for the 2015 calendar year.

As of May 20, 2015, the AINP

has issued more than 1,600 nominations so far in 2015
has more than 10,000 applications that need to be assessed to determine if the application is eligible for a nomination
There are many more applicants to the AINP than there are nomination certificates available.

AINP status updates

This page is the only source for information on AINP application volumes and status. The AINP does not reply to questions or requests for status updates. If you or your immigration representative asks about the status of your application, we will refer you to the information on this page.

Processing times are not available as applications are not processed on a first in, first out basis. To help you determine the status of your application, refer to the following tables. They provide information on

AINP application volumes by occupation

The 10 National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes and occupations below make up over half of the AINP’s applications. Due to the volume of applications, if you applied to the AINP under one of these occupations, your application will take longer to process.

6311 – Food Service Supervisors
6211 – Retail Sales Supervisors
6711 – Food Counter Attendants, Kitchen Helpers and Related Support Occupations
7511 – Transport Truck Drivers
6421 – Retail Salespersons
0621 – Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers
7237 – Welders and Related Machine Operators
7284 – Plasterers, Drywall Installers and Finishers and Lathers

AINP confirmation of receipt of applications

The AINP will confirm either by a letter or email that your application has been received. The letter or email will also include your file number.

It may take up to two months to receive your letter or email. If you used an immigration representative to submit your application, the letter or email with your file number will only be sent to your representative.

If you want to know sooner if the AINP received your application, send your application by registered mail or by courier. This lets you track the delivery on your application.

Keeping your AINP application up to date

Sending additional documents or information to the AINP

You may only send in any additional documents or information to the AINP once you have an AINP file number. This file number is included in your confirmation email or confirmation letter.

Submit only information that is either requested by an AINP officer or that is relevant to your application. This includes, but is not limited to:

documents that show any changes to your address and telephone number
documents that show any changes to your employment or family situation
renewed work permits
Go to the Application Forms (‘Other AINP Forms’) section to find out how to notify the AINP of updates.

Keeping your work permit valid

You must have a valid work permit and valid temporary resident status to remain eligible for the AINP. It is extremely important that you do not let your work permit and temporary resident status expire while you wait for your AINP application to be assessed. You are responsible for maintaining your status to work in Canada. The processes to renew your work permit and temporary resident status are separate from your AINP application.

Note:
The availability of AINP streams and categories is dependent upon application volumes and labour market needs. The AINP reserves the right to close application intake for any AINP stream or category at any time, without prior notice. Further, the AINP may decline to consider applications to closed or suspended streams or categories, regardless of when the applications were submitted. Changes to the AINP, including notice of suspension or closure of its streams and categories are available on the AINP news page and/or the AINP application forms page.

The AINP is not obligated to assess/process any applications submitted. Applications to the AINP are treated as an expression of interest, and as such, will be processed according to quality of the application (completeness, eligibility), labour market information, occupational supply and demand forecasting, AINP application volumes, and/or any other factors at the AINP’s discretion. By submitting an application to the AINP you acknowledge and agree that your application may not be processed in the order received, or at all. Further, the decision to assess / process any particular application, and the outcome of any such assessment/processing, is at the AINP’s sole discretion. Program criteria are eligibility minimums, and meeting program criteria does not guarantee that an applicant’s application will be assessed, processed, or granted.

Hi
You said paystubs must be bi week, why is that? I receive my paychecks once a month and get my paystubs accordingly. Does it mean they won't be accepted by ainp?

Yes, it s the same person who was waiting for over 16 months for his nominations, however, at the time he applied the processing time was 30 days.
Thanks

Funny thing is they still accepting applications like they need more..
well they didnt mention anything about limited number for each occupation in this update like they said in march but it is already happening.
i just heard it from someone tht guy being asked for new WP who was under food service and was waiting from last jan. 2014. samething happened with elisha79 too. well its clear occupations in food is already full for this year. if anyone will be ask for new WP means tht occupation limit is full for the year.
i think 3300 skilled worker ppl more likely applied in EE and likely done with PR process too i dont know why AINP still think there are tht many ppl still waiting for nominations.
