Hi All,

My CEC PR application arrived in Nova Scotia on 17 March 2014. My current IEC visa expires 2 April 2014.

I need to apply for a BOWP, but probably won't receive my AOR until mid next month. Within the next couple of days, I will mail my BOWP application to Vegreville to ensure that I am on 'implied status' until I receive the BOWP. I am applying by mail as the processing time is longer and therefore it is more likely that I will have my AOR by the time the BOWP application is processed.

In my application, I am including:
- A letter of explanation (given below)
- A copy of bulletin 485-A
- A copy of the work experience letter sent as part of the CEC application.
- IMM5710
- Scan of my passport

My letter of explanation is as follows:

Please find enclosed my application for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) in accordance with Operation Bulletin 485-A.
My current open work permit is set to expire on April 2, 2014. By submitting this application, I understand I will be on implied status until a decision is made.

I originally submitted an application for Permanent Residency (PR) under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) on January 10, 2014. The immigration office in Sydney (Nova Scotia) were satisfied with my work experience (almost 2 years) but returned my application due to a missing form. Unfortunately Canada Post delivered my returned application to the wrong address, leading to a delay of a month.

My revised application was completed as soon as possible, and was received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on March 17, 2014.
At the date of this application, I have not yet received the Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR). I expect to receive this around mid-April.
As a result, I kindly ask that at the time of processing my application for the BOWP, you check my CEC application status and AOR under my Client ID number XXXX-XXXX or contact me to request a copy of the AOR.

I am seeking a BOWP, however I am currently employed by XXXX, who would like me to continue working for them indefinitely (subject to me receiving legal clearance). I have enclosed a copy of the reference that was used in my PR application.

I will be eternally grateful if someone is able to provide answers to the following questions:

(1) How do I pay for the BOWP application? (when submitting the application by mail)
(by paying $155 online for a 'work permit' and including a copy of the receipt?)

(2) Is 'CPC Vegreville, Work Permit, 6212 55th Avenue, Unit 202, Vegreville, AB, T9C 1X6' the correct mailing address? (specifically, is the unit correct)
(I have read that it is Unit 202, but it doesn't really matter whether you use 555 or 202)

(3) Do I need to include photos?
(I don't think so, just want confirmation)

(4) Does my letter of explanation read ok?

(5) Do I need to complete and include IMM5707?
(May as well I guess...)

Thank you for your help once again!

I also applied for BOWP by mail.

1. Yes, pay the fee for a Work Permit online following the instructions. Include a copy of the receipt.

2. I don't think it matters. I worked (and still work) for the same employer the whole time I've been here.

3. No photos required if you are sending by mail.

4. Your letter is fine. They will be able to look you up by UCI anyway - it links all of your dealings with CIC together.

5. Follow the Document Checklist for extending your stay as a worker. I don't think I saw that particular form number in there?

Congrats! Whats your timeline?

I plan to send my work permit application by mail too, as I applied for PR on May 14th and my current work permit expires on May 31st.

Thanks!

My second IEC visa was due to expire April 2, 2014. The CEC PR application was mailed March 10, 2014. The BOWP application was mailed March 27, 2014.

It took just 19 days to receive my Acknowledgement of Receipt (AoR) after the CEC PR application arrived in Sydney, NS.

The BOWP was dated May 08, 2014. There was no contact (e.g. email / phone) from Vegreville regarding the application, just the work permit arriving by mail. It took 41 days to process - this means that the processing time was pretty spot on with the 'Work Permit Extension (new employer)' category on this link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp

But the 'Working on application received on' information would appear to be off quite a bit.

Hi guys,

My CEC PR application is in the pool with 443 scores. My current PGWP and temporary resident visa expire on 8 May 2019.

I am preparing another IELTS test in order to get more points and meanwhile I have submitted AINP and waiting for the feedback.

I need to apply for a BOWP before my permit expired. My plan is to apply by paper in order to gain more time for me to get ITA or invitation form Alberta. I understand my application for BOWP will be rejected without ITA. My question is:

1. How can I apply by paper? I have created an online application and haven't finished the forms and uploaded passport and anything else yet. I could not find instruction for submitting the application by paper.

2. How can I pay the fees if I mail the papers? I know I can pay the fees online, however, is it the last step for an online application that paying the fees?

3. Since my PGWP is going to expire at the same time as my Temporary Resident Visa, should I do something to my TRV in the mean time?

Desperately need your help! Thank you!
