How do you Americans like Canada? :P

"Oh For Sure" and also "You Betcha" are definitely more specific to Western Canada. I used to work in a Canada-wide call centre and that was my own observation at least. I'm struggling to think of how else you would pronounce "past-ah" though? :P lol

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

The key statement is in bold. You applied under a program that no longer exists. I'm wondering if your 22 year old son would even be considered a dependant anymore? Rules on this subject recently changed...

Waiting for PR Card after landing - add your case here

OHIP is a 3 month wait from the time you are eligible. If you remain in Ontario and have a valid work permit while processing your PR, you are most times also eligible for OHIP. http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/ohip_eligibility.aspx

Is a Nexus Card appropriate for me?

You know what I'm taking about. The only time I wasn't taken into secondary was when we went back within 90 days of our last visit. The guy waved us through and explained that my previous I-94 was still valid.

Is a Nexus Card appropriate for me?

The US-VISIT program requires all 10 fingerprints and a digital photo be taken of all non-US citizens, even those that are part of the Visa Waiver Program and even those who are PRs of Canada. Special exception is given to most Canadian and Mexican citizens. I also have to pay $6 for the I-94...

Is a Nexus Card appropriate for me?

Another question, if my wife and I both applied, would we be able to go to the same appointment?

Is a Nexus Card appropriate for me?

Thanks Scylla, Any other replies to my first question would be much appreciated... 1. The website mentions PRs must have lived in Canada or the US for 3 years prior to the application. Is this 3 years as a PR or 3 years with any legal status? I've lived in Canada since 2008 but just became PR...

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

4 years. Because even if you'd been here only 4 years, you could still prove you were here 4 years out of the last 6 years. Remember also that these 4 years you must be a Permanent Resident. Time spent in Canada before PR doesn't count.

Is a Nexus Card appropriate for me?

I am a Canadian PR holder (Australian citizen) and my wife is a Canadian citizen. Even though I hold a visa exempt passport for the US, I'm always caught waiting in line at the road border, sometimes for several hours, to pay my $6 and have my fingerprints and photo taken. We also travel from...

    PR Card

That's crazy. I don't doubt your husband's experience, but why even give us card then?

    PR Card

What they ask you for and what they need are two different things. They are only supposed to consider your PR card. I wouldn't recommend refusing to show your passport if asked...

Citizenship fraud -- citizenship stripped and ordered to repay court expenses

Totally agree with your comments here. I would hope paying legal costs is reserved for cases such as this. It's hard to see how this particular appeal was not in bad faith.

Citizenship fraud -- citizenship stripped and ordered to repay court expenses

Disgusting. How can these people justify lying like that on legal documents? How can you justify APPEALING the original decision on top of that?!

    PR Card

Your PR card is presented to Canada when you are returning from overseas. Canada does not need to see your Passport. Your Passport is presented whenever you are anywhere else in the world. Those countries do not need to see your PR card.

    Best car for Student

I also do not have a car...but some of us don't live in the GTA. Trying to get around without a car in smaller towns can be pretty brutal. That's my personal experience at least.

WOM - you may get bounced!

No, I was specifically commenting on the court case at the top of the thread. The case has nothing to do with intent to reside provisions, which by the way have not taken effect yet.

    WOM = Writ of Mandamus

WOM - you may get bounced!

Maybe I'm a bit of a nerd but I really enjoy reading stuff like this. Key points to take away: - Applicants must prove residency (in whatever way within the common law the CJ wishes to assess it), or hardship that is beyond potentially waiting longer for citizenship. - The CJ (and the appeal)...

BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

The WP and the PR processes are completely separate and handled by 2 completely separate officers in 2 completely separate locations. They may have access to the same systems, but one doesn't affect the other at all.
