Thanks a lot mkshah. Actually I am upset now because if I got 6 pts for it my total would be 51....now its exactly 49 which means I have to rely on full pts for adaptability. Very upsetting because I've heard they give 5 pts max for adaptability. Now my chances to get CSQ look bad. What are my logical options?

Don't get upset buddy. You can reappear for A2 exam and than you can apply for CSQ. And after applying you can submit your B1 result after 6 to 8 months so that your points get increased. I hope it's not a big deal for you buddy. Even I am also having 57 points with A1 result but I am also going to submit my file and prepared for A2 to increase my points in the remaining time of Interview. B'coz interview will take one and half year from India in normal case. Probably In Jan 2013 I will upgrade my file by sending A2 result so that my points will increased by 4 i.e 57 + 4 = 61 out of 63 points.
After A2 I will also try for B1 to clear as soon as possible before interview date. rest is in God's hand. Everyone has his/her destiny buddy.

Wish I did that too..Sigh!

Will be interesting to know from the experts whether you should submit the good A2 results or the not-so-good B1 results based on your speaking/listening scores.

I found this for you and according to this table, you should get 3+3 points in BOTH cases because your B1 speaking/listening scores are between 8 and 15 points so that would fetch the same points as A2. So you'd probably be better off sending the 'better-looking' A2 results. I'm no expert on this though, just my POV. I wish I knew that you can give both A2 and B1 together.

Hey Raj.. thanks for the support. I was told by Alliance Francaise that you are not allowed to re-appear for a DELF exam. Another thing, according to the new rules you can claim language points ONLY if you submit the DELF certificates at the time of applying, so it's doubtful that they would consider B1 or B2 level certificates at a later point of time and let me claim more points for that.

The whole 'adaptability' points system is flawed because an applicant with the minimum points (49 for single applicant) NEVER knows how many points they will get for adaptability in the interview and most of the times they're not going to get full 6 points, so they won't get the CSQ. QHC fails to mention that it's a risk to apply with 49 points because you're making a scary assumption of getting full 6 points for adaptability. I was told by immigration consultants that the max points they give for adaptability is 5. Imagine waiting 2 years for an interview to end up getting 5 out of 6 points and missing out on the CSQ by 1 point because your total becomes 49+6=54. It's like a guessing game.
