Thanks for the info and the kind words. TEF or TCF is difficult to schedule and take a long time to get result back whereas taking the IELTS is way easier convenient and cheaper, no sweat. I believe adding the 6 points for English should be enough to make my employability score exceed 42, but not enough for overall to be 49. That's why I wanna know if passing either one is OK.
No. You have to pass both. You have to score more than 42 in employability and then alltogether (all factors included) you should score at least 49 points. But then your application will take longer because of the interview and also you will be at the mercy of interviewing officer.

Why make things longer and take the risk if you can just add French exams. Since you studied in French you should be able to pass the test easily. That will give you no less than 10 points. Plus 6 for english you will be in the interview waiver zone. Try taking TEFaQ, they gave me the diploma a month after the exam.

I want to know my chances from you, as well as ask a simple question.

I am an American, French speaking. Long story short, I get 60 points if I get a full 16 on the French section. To play it safe, let's be conservative and assume I only get 14 points on French, that would still be 58, well above 48.

On top of my 58-60 points, I'd get six more for my de facto spouse - putting us at 64-66, well above 57. She is about to start a two year master's program, too.

Do those numbers usually give the applicant good odds?

My other question has to do with the de facto status. I want to be very careful about making sure everything is right with that before applying. She has already been living with me for around a year but there isn't any real paperwork to show it. She's not on the lease, utilities are included and the one household bill is in my name. Do we take measures to have both of our names of different documents (accounts, etc) and then wait at least a year to apply? If you are going to go through a long process like this, might as well dot your I's and cross your T's!

Thanks

Try take the french exams and IELTS am sure it will waiver the interview. I did the TCFQ and i got my results in less than 4 weeks. the exams was as basic as possible, YOUR BEST SHOT IS TO WRITE THE TESTS AND WAIVER INTERVIEW FOR A DIRECT QSC. IF I WERE YOU I WILL WRITE BOTH FRENCH AND ENGLISH

No points given for French or English, what now?

I got a letter from MICC last week stating their intention to reject my CSQ app because I have only 39 points for employability and 40 points for total, 9 short of the 49 requirement. Upon closer examination of my scores, I found out I was not given any point for either French or English. I believe this is likely a result of me not submitting any French and English test scores.
Much thanks!!
halloooo,
sorry for you ,can you please share your timeline.

the best way is to pass the Tefaq and with a quick recap you can get the B2 B2 and gain 10 Points and definitely doing ielts will give you minimum 4 points.
I did my master in France since 2007 and I was afraid to get B2 since I didn’t practice long time ago. But thanks for God I pass it the last Jan with C1 B2.

Good luck in your next step.

hi Sebrina, are you saying that you have applied for two programs at the same time? fsw in 2012 and qsw in 2013?

I just received the AOR with file number for my application under QSW. Now my occupation is also listed under FSW. And i want to apply to FSW as well.
But my agent is saying i have to withdraw my file from QSW before I move ahead and apply to FSW. Please guide me. Cant we apply in both and under QSW after getting the CSQ from quebec department and at the time of lodging my QSW file into federal i withdraw my application. cant I do like that?

Please help.
