Hello Everyone,

I am sailing in the same boat. Please help me out to know this in detail. I have applied for work permit on 9th Oct 2013 and received request for medical examination on 16th Oct 2013. I completed my medical on 19th but my DMP was having some doubts in my Chest X-ray so, I was asked to give lordotic view of Chest x-ray. After which my medical reports were send to CIC. But on 11th Nov, I received letter from CIC regarding further medical information in which they asked me to consult Chest pulmonologist for abnormal apical opacity in chest x-ray.

I don have any disease history of TB or any other lung disease but dont know why this has been happening. I am really worried about my application as I will be loosing this offer if my visa got rejected.

Will you please let me know, what are possibilities that I will get my work permit.

I also went through the 3-day Sputum Test last Sept. 17, 2013. the smears turned out NEGATIVE but I still have to wait for 2 months (Nov.15) for the result of the culture test. two months waiting time is dragging..but in two days time I will go back to the hospital for the result.

I really hope that the result will be negative so I don't have to wait for another 6-month treatment.

Just a question, they say that if I did not get a call from the clinic within the 2 months waiting time, it means that more or less I am negative of the culture test. Is that always true? also, is there a possibility that I got "Negative" result from the culture but they will still require me to undergo 6-months treatment?

I'm really nervous now..i hope somebody could enlighten me on this.

my 2 kids had sputum test and they had negative results. They did not undergo treatment...only the follow up Chest X ray after 2mos. When all was cleared We had PPR...

If the results of the sputum smear/culture as well as the repeat chest x-ray ( 3 months after the 1st ) are negative, the DMP will definitely clear you and forwarded it to the visa office for further processing of you application...

hi! thanks for the reply..i went to SLEC yesterday for the result of my sputum culture and it went negative..though my x-ray is still the same as before. hopefully ill receive a PPR soon

Hi! Are u also processing in CEM? why is it that the culture result is almost 3 months? I only had mine after 8 weeks..hopefully your husband will be cleared soon.

I dont why it takes almost 3 months
maybe because december have a lot of holidays. And yes they are processing in CEM. Are you live in caregiver? Me im a live in caregiver and i sponsor my husband and daughter. So after the result what did they tell you?

Hi sis..maybe its because of the holidays nga. Im under sponsorship category. Im the one being sponsored. when i got a negative result for the culture, they also required me to have a repeat x-ray. what's important is mag negative ung culture. they told me that i don't have to go through the medication kasi waived na raw ung TB in my case. after 7-10 working days, they will update CEM and hopefully, will resume in processing my papers again.

Its frustrating to know that my husband need to have sputum test and the doctor said it will takes two months for the results. I dont have anychoice just to wait. I am the principal applicant

In my case as I said due to abnormal apical opacity in CXR, CIC asked to consult chest pulmomologist for medical furthrance. The specialist asked me to do CXR and CT scan, where he found the opacity in left apex was due to scar of previous infection and he made me clear that it will not be problem for my application and there is no treatment to cure this scars.

I have all his reports to CIC and waiting further, but I am worried, if I will be asked to undergo further test (sputum smear and culture) then my application will be delayed and I may loose the work offer due to delay in visa process.

Please help me to know, whether they will agree on specialists report and grant me visa or will again ask me for further medical tests.

Hi, to all


Medical Doctor asked Sputum test for my wife medical, Usually result comes out in 2 months and x ray again after 3 months (On Feb 13, 2014), by the way she is in India right now and I am in Canada and the visa office is CPP-O. some questions regarding that..

1. Does CIC stop the application process up to the new results? or They start my process (bcz my medical is fine) and wait for her results?? or Will they add new results later and start the process now??

2. Do they start other step for both of us like security, eligibility, backgrounds or stop everything up to the medical results?



I am hoping no further delays in my PR file.

We are in the same boat. The processing of all our papers is stop because our partners need those test. My husband had his sputum last month and the result might be january or february 2014. Its frustrating to wait but they need those test. My ecas show only application received. Nothing more.
