My wife has changed her name and is applying for a new PR card. We got the first PR card about 2 years back. Anyone knows if the new PR card has the same expiry date as the previous one, or it would be 5 years form the time they issue it? Thanks.

If we need to travel around the time the current card expires, then it matters. Then we have to apply for a new card in about 2 years again, wait to get it and then travel.
The card expiry date is mostly irrelevant - if she's not in compliance with the residency obligation, she runs the risk of being reported and possibly losing PR status.
She IS in complaince and she will be. But she cannot travel if she has an expired card. My question is NOT about the complaince. It's about the new card expiration date.
And I'm sorry, don't know the answer. If the card comes back and later gets close to renewal date, she'll have to renew again. If she doesn't have time, she'll be eligible for a prtd.
