Hi CanadianVincy - sounds like you have a lot of exciting things going on right now. First congratulations on the baby.
Secondly, don't worry too much about having to go for an interview. My hubby was called for an interview but we had a lot of red flags. Even with all the red flags and an interview we were processed and landed in 209 days (7 months). We had to wait for an interview spot, if there was no interview it would have been about 5 months.

good luck on this journey. There will be ups and downs but don't get discouraged stay strong. God bless.

Thank so much. I'm due in 2 weeks so I'll just wait until I have the baby. But I did contact Canadian immigration and they told me that I would have to give the a copy of the babys birth certificate when the babys born. So I was unsure of having to inform just Canadian immigration or informing pos as well.

P.s. I hate this waiting game and not knowing whats going on

So the good thing is you know that he is inline for an interview which is good since you both can prepare for the interview. There is a ton of information on the forum with interview questions. My husband was asked almost every question and his interview was an hour and a Half. The landing immigration officer told us that was an unusually long interview.

Below are some questions.

I would wait until to have the baby you will have to submit new information about the baby. Normally at the time of interview your husband will be asked to bring some documentation. We were asked to update forms and bring them. Just wait until you get the interview letter (check emails - we got our invitation to the interview in the mail a week before the interview) thank goodness they also sent a copy via email - so check his email and your email. He can bring all the documentation for the baby at the interview. I would also send the information in even if they don't ask for it depending on what happens first Baby or interview.

I sent documentation to POS ahead of time. Good luck.

He was asked a large number of those questions. We were living together from August until the interview so most of the questions applied.
Keep in mind a typical interview is 30 mins. He was interview for 90 mins or a full hour and a half.

He said they asked him EVERYTHING.

the key is honestly.

Got it. The interview will be more around his deportation than anything else. That seems to be what happens if they have additional questions.

You both have known each other for so long, so the relationship won't be in question.

:)

good luck

Thanks Canadianinlove, with my situation my husband was in canada and over stayed his stay. He didnt get deported but was held in the holding cell for being caught without any Canadian ID. So while he was in the holding cell he decided to pay his own fare to go back home. (Immigration didn't stamp his passort as deported).
My question as well is will they ask about our relationship or would it be more about his situation? (I also just want to be prepared.)

It will based on both....., and lots of questions pertaining to why he was in Canada and didn't leave when he was suppose to ( he would have also added this information into his application too).

My husband was also in holding cell, paid his own fare and was deported straight from holding cell. He was picked up by local police while riding his bike and never came back home since., but in his case there was a warrant out for his arrest with immigration because he lost his rufugee case, they don't necessary stamp your passport stating deported. - trust me they have all records, he was giving traveling documents to return to Guyana.

How long was his over stay ????

I'm sure Canadianinlove will agree.

My question to you is, besides not having Canadian ID did he have any other kind of ID, was he able to identifity himself. (Not understanding the part of not having any Canadian ID unless you are relating to not have Canadian status, ???)

Also people I heard recently a couple got refused because the spouse (who was being interview ) did not have on his wedding band at his interview.

Smh- be fully prepared that's what I'm saying.

It sounds like to me that he left Canada on his own. It is good that he paid his own return ticket.
We had a similar situation when my husband came to see me in Canada. His exwife was bitter that he and I had a relationship and called Canadian immigration from the US and said he was coming to Canada at work. When he arrived in Canada for the first time the immigration officers held him in a cell and told him that they had been waiting for him as they were told he was coming to work.

I was at the airport waiting for him and he called me and said that he was being put on an airplane and returning to the US. I was devastated. He was just coming up to see me for a couple of weeks and he had no intention of working!!!

He signed a paper with immigration saying that he was leaving on his own will.

I forgot to add that piece to our story - so we had a ton of red flags. He is here now so everything can be sorted out.

I have heard in the US that people get picked up for not having id but not in Canada.

They will ask him all those questions in an interview. Plenty of people were deported and when applying again are accepted. As long as the relationship is genuine that is all you have to prove.
Have faith and just follow the process. I always told my husband just trust the process don't give up and push through.

I had said to my husband that I am always going to try and help other people on here because it was such a difficult time in our lives and this forum helped me and gave me hope.
I am hoping that I will be able to do that for others as well.

We had prepared for us to be denied and were preparing to reapply or appeal depending on what happened. I said if we got through then others can as well. Everyone needs hope.

We aren't angry at his ex, I actually feel sorry for her. You can't make someone stay that wants to leave. I am sure that she is living with her mistakes. Although there were many times when I wanted to say something to her but I decided that it was not worth my time. hahaha

What are your red flags? I thought ours were just brutal!
