oh no, I'm in the same position! I am still waiting, still in the background check stage but our working visas expire on July 17th. We are due to get married back home in Scotland in July, return to Canada and then honeymoon Mexico in August before returning to Canada again. I guess if we don't have our PR cards by then, we won't be able to get in. If we don't have PPR in time, could we apply for a bridging visa and then not do landing until August?
Hey im from Scotland too and also work visa runs out in July 26th getting worried as closing in and im 22nd Dec 2016

You could apply for bridging open work permit which will allow you to stay and work in Canada. My issue is that we're due to go home for a week in July and won't get back in if we don't have PR cards. I'm not sure if you can travel on a bridging open work permit. We've travelled on our IEC visas with no problem. Fingers crossed for you pal! I'm sure you'll be fine though - 18 months processing time takes you to June, I would say if you haven't got any further with PR by end of May then apply for the BOWP

No they will not let you apply for Bridging Open Work Permit because you are already a PR by the time you come back from Scotland. I would suggest you leave for Scotland for your wedding and from Scotland, fly to Mexico for your honeymoon and then come back to Canada for landing.

I think you'll be fine :) Hopefully we'll both hear soon though! I called today and asked for an update. They said criminality and eligibility are done, and they're just waiting for security checks to be done now (whatever that means!!)

I would apply for BOWP before getting PR though, and then won't do my landing until I'm back from Mexico in August. The agent I spoke to today seemed to think that would be fine too, but I know the agents aren't always known for giving accurate info
