Hi,

Finally, all the passports are received with shining visa stickers on it...
Visa expiry date is December 31, 2013 (Medical exam was done on December 8, 2012).
They are planning to land in middle of November 2013.

Very happy......

Ok...Got a chance to meet Chris our immigration minister.
asked him about over a year holding of passports for issuing Visa at LVO New Delhi------per him over a year is a poor customer service affected ppl should go to there MP ask Him to forward there COMPLAINT (not inquiry) Regarding this and local MP office will forward to immigration ministry to talk directly With LVO .

For not providing seniority on old applications he is blaming the back log ....they are trying to bring young family's first, dependents under 22 years (today) will be preferred than dependants who have grown older waiting.just there way to process files.

Well they are reducing dependent age to 18 yrs at time of application when new system starts.

Can you please share your timeline please? So, Islamabad Visa office also keeps the passport for months?

Normally they don't. Usually they ask for passports to issue visa.

Only a few cases where passports are kept longer....

When they were requested medical exam, they were also asked to provide some other forms, docs and pcc which they sent directly to New Delhi.

I spoke with both Chris Alexander's office in Ajax & my MP office in Toronto!! I am really upset with their response.
apparently they are shifting files to less busy office in the same country to clear the back log.

By reading through the forum, it appears you sponsored your mother, but is in Canada already before the sponsorship visa was issued. I also have a similar case, one of my sponsored parents dependent (aged under18 years) is already in Canada but the sponsorship application is still being processed (applied since 2008, got the additional doc request only last week). Is there a way i could request them to process the application here in Canada for the person who is already in Canada. And They can process the parents application in new Delhi. Did you request cic to process your mothers application in Ottawa and they still sent it to new delhi?Thanks

Hi Tp, I don't think they can process family members separately. I'm pretty sure they'll send the entire file either to Ottawa or to lvo, but not both. For our case, I requested to have the file transferred to Ottawa, but they still sent the entire file to lvo. You can always give CIC a call just to make sure. Good luck!
