Hi sandy, my sis was 22 plus 4 months when I filed the case. She received same letter that she is not perusing the study as per regulation as after completing her MA, she started doing some diploma. However, does not matter I have seen ppl who were doing even higher studies, did not get visas. It seems like Jason Kennedy has given instructions to VO not to give visas to 22 plus dependents. My sis received letter in stating of feb and has not recvd any reply yet but I am sure at the end they delegate her from the file n now unnecessarily delaying our case. Their were abt 4-5 students who were in the same category from my sis college n none has recvd visa. We mentioned in the letter that she changed the profession to improve her chances to get job in the future. I have cried a lot dear n now m just hoping that they at least provide the visas to rest of my family. If they did not has to provide visa why we waited for 5 years, she could have done something different. I was thinking that as long as you study continuously and are not married then age does not count. However, it seems they have created their own rules now. The sad thing is that we can not argue with these authorities. 5 years of some ones' life in waiting is not a joke.....

Yes her meds were done and passport were sent in nov 2012 along with other family members and she got letter in feb in regards to her study details. However, technically she has not get any refusal letter yet but similar cases have rejected. I did not hear if dependents under 22 got rejected.....but I read someone post today on this thread about dependents over 19 years having issues.....hp it's not true

I've been trying to find the proof to that, no luck yet. I guess, it was a rumour. That's good.

this is not the number of dependent children rejected. but it is the total number of dependent children age 19 and over per year.. here is what the document exactly states, "At current processing levels, approximately 7000 dependent children (ages 19 and above, from all immigration categories combined), would no longer be considered dependent children with the proposed amendment. Most of these older dependent children would typically accompany those in the PGP (25%), Business (14%), and Provincial Nominee programs (19%). This proposal would not have a significant impact on the overall economic stream as dependent children aged 19 and over account for less than 3% of all approved persons in the economic programs". so with the proposed change in age from 22 to 19 yrs, they r technically expecting 7000 less applicants as dependent children per year.

So its settled. CIC is "NOT" rejecting dependent. They are just explaining how the changes will affect the future applications. Hopefully this will ease everyone who is panicking cause of the misinformation.
