COPR is most important. It is record of your landing and is needed for your pension when you turn 65..... It is recommended to not fold COPR, as over few year it might tear... Keep it in a file un-folded......

To add to what rajmalhotra7 said, if you migrated with your children, then they would need the original copy of the COPR when its time for them to claim their pensions. So, keep it safe and accessible to them when they grow up!

Nope, it can be anywhere
Si what can be the reason? I can check my parents file status using my information and it says application received but if I use my parent's information ,it doesn't work

Today I have time and decided to write to you my virtual friends.
I am in Canada. I came on 2 September.
The flight was very, very long, 9 hours.
At border the officers were very kind and all was done very quickly.
Maybe because may daughter was with me, I don`t know, but it was organized and fast.
Even I had documentation for the container and it was done also very quickly.
So it was really a nice welcome.
My wishes are for all of you who are still waiting to get the visa for your parents and finally to finish that long waiting game.

Welcome to Canada Teri! Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. Glad all went smoothly. Yes long flights are not fun, but thanks to the airplanes we can visit other countries in hours, not weeks or months:-).

I am so pleased for you that you are at last with your daughter. My husband and I are waiting patiently for our turn to come and be with our children and grandchildren.
I wish you a very happy new life in Canada.

COPR - you'd have got along with Visa. It might have been stapled to passport. I detatched it from passport and have kept it in a safe place since my landing. As it is not a travel document, with the exception of entering from USA by road, so no need to have it attached to your passport. If you are PR, you are good with your PR card.

I got PR back in 2002 and was in India, the staple got loose and I removed the paper. For some reason, it got mixed with another paperwork and my mother was cleaning up stuff and teared the whole sheet with he rest
I had a torn COPR, went to the Airport and the airline said, we cannot allow you to fly on this back to Canada.
I met Canadian Consular at Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, he said I will need to apply for a Facilitation Visa in New Delhi
I spend airticket, booked a hotel room and stood in Visa line outside Canadian Embassy
I was asked if this is my first time applying for a visa, I said I am already a Canadian Resident applying to go back, almost half the line looked back at me
I had to give an interview as to why I need the visa - I am like I am already a resident. The Indian lady said I know but I have to ask, I said, OK - to live back there
They gave a 30 day visa, when I reached Canada, no one even looked at the passport

When I went for my citizenship ceremony in 2005, they saw in the computer and were confused and I had to explain the story

Things have changed so much, now when I came back recently to Vancouver, all I had to do is Scan passport, say truthful to options of Custom and OUT - no immigration officer

If its written Confirmation Of Permanent Resident, then yes it is. :)

Its been 10 years since I saw that paper, I would have imagined they issue PR cards directly now

Thank you Mockava, thank you very much! :)
I wish you, with all my heart, the same to you and your parents! As soon as possible!
Many times I flied with an airplane, but this was really looooong flight, 9 hours.
6 hours are acceptable, but the last 3 hours are like a year...
I was looking, from time to time to this forum just to see what`s going on with a few of you...

For us in India, its 9+8+Wait
Only 1st class will suffice

Another week is gone, no email no letter.

I am also worried as so many people with similar timelines to me got the first stage approvals already. What should I do.

hey guys.....i have good news to share :), today i rec'd a letter in mail, it is medical request for my mom and also advising to submit passport.
the letter is dated 1st Oct 2012 and i rec'd it today Oct 19, 2012
Finally after long wait we got medical request, so it can be concluded that after file transferred to ND it takes about 5 months for medical request ( my file was transferred to ND on May 17, 2012)
