Hi

just wondering how long PCC certificates are valid? We were advised to get them in the original letter dated March 30th of this year, 6 months on and nothing from CPC yet. Is it worth sending them in if close to the expiry date, and if so what is the best way, recorded delivery with a cover letter?

PCC's are valid upto one year from the date of issue. Do not mail until you are requested by CIC. PCC must be mailed in Original. Always attach copy of the letter or email from CIC for submission of PCC. Recorded delivery is recommended. Include your UCI Number, File Number, Name and Date of Birth as reference on all correspondence. Do not make any alteration or additions to PCC.

Does anyone know whether the CIC Call Centre agents can check the file information and tell if a document (e.g. police certificate) was received and accepted?
I guess depends on agent. But sure, they can.
When I was calling a lot (back in March-April), one agent confirmed me that CIC received PCC. That time file was in CPP-O though.

Shuga, i don't think we know how and when they start. They started criminality on my mom's file BEFORE they received medicals. But they STILL did not start security :(

Congrats to ALL who got passport request!!!

QUESTION! to those who got request for passports. Do they say they the passport has to be valid for at least 12 months when you send it out.
My mom's passport expires in Sep 2013. And I wonder if it will be okay if the validity of the passport will be less than 12 month, once(when) they send us a passport request.

valid for 1 year but have to be sent no later than 3 months after the date of issue.

Nobody really knows how long it ACTUALLY takes. I see that New Dehli office sends requests way faster than it is stated on their website. So who knows!

Not sure where you got this info from.

Not really. The process would be much faster, given that CIC is trying to clear the backlog. For India, the AOR letter indicates that it could take 36 months for final decisions, but people have started getting visas in less than a year.

Hi Shuga,

I would not worry too much about criminality/security checks. Thats the last thing (if not any thing), that would prevent a parent from getting visas. And I am talking about hardworking people like those on this forum.
