You still have to show that you earn a certain minimum income to qualify as a sponsor. They do not take money in the bank as a criteria.

You need to show income proof for the year like a tax return. Aside from that, they are currently closed for applications to sponsor parents, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp but you can apply for a super visa for your mother. However, you also need to show income to apply for that.

My time frame: Parents applied in Dec 2008
Response get to send documents in Sept 2011
document sent Feb 2012
Got mail in August-September 2012 to send Salary information in 2009

Wondering why it is so late and what is the reason as i have sent all information ,,filed tax and all on time..please share your experience.

Your mother can apply for a regular visit visa. In order to get it, she needs to show that she has funds for her trip and will not overstay in Canada, that means she has strong ties to homeland and will go back there. She should have travel insurance in case she falls ill or has an accident. If she gets the visit visa, she can stay with you for up to 6 months. After 6 months, she can apply to extend. There is however no guarantee. It is not your absolute right to bring your mother with you when you immigrate. If you are a single parent and your kids are too small to be alone at home, you will have to put them in day care or get babysitter or similar.

Congratulations to those parents got visas already! God bless.

And to all of us still waiting, God bless. Praying that we all received our parents' PR visa sooner, especially to those who waited longer.

Hi: I have an update. Medical exam was requested yesterday via e-mail. E-cas says the "Decision made" for sponsorship and that the letter was sent on August 29th. Still waiting for the letter and have no idea what is says; but I believe the file was transferred to CPP-O?

i believe that medical request came from the office that is working on your case now... so if e-mail address is OttPilot-Immigration - then it's in Ottawa...

You will get medical request between 60 to 75 days after the file transfer date (as per past experience )

We applied for my parents sponsorship (from UK) in September 2009 and received request for additional information in May 2012. Documents sent June 2012 and confirmation received from CPC Mississauga.

August 2012 confirmation of sponsor approval, and application for PR has been forwarded to Processing Pilot in Ottawa for further processing (If at any time local knowledge is req'd, the file may be forwarded to the relevant visa office for processing and final decision).

So the waiting game begins...has anyone else got to this stage, and how long did you wait for further correspondence??

Thanks - update:

Received medical request and PCC request September 5th - Medical/X-Ray completed September 10th and PCC posted (we already had this ready). Doctor did mention that we will probably get a request for further test (respitory) as mum had TB 55 years ago and had section of lung removed.

Just to comment on different peoples timelines...I have a feeling that appications sent from 2007 onwards received notifications asking for further documents, at the time the letter stated that these must be produced within 3 months...and will be based on first come first served so to speak. So if your application is from 2007 and you sent docs back 2 months later, and another application from 2008 got docs sent back after 15 days...they are now earlier in the queue than the 2007?

Not True !!! Depends on luck and LVO. My file transfer to LVO in Jan2012 but nothing yet. CIC is not treating applications equally, treating as where they originate, Processing file with unfair and injustice manner, CIC is not process applications in the order in which they are received. It is discriminatory indeed!!!
