I have a question, hope you can shed me some light !!

I am in the U.S on a expired stamping, however have a valid I-797. To go to Canada for PR, do I need to get some kind of document etc.. ? to show the U.S border folks when I return back ?

Guys,

I am going to send RPRF tomorrow and i just want to confirm two things.

RPRF for principle applicant and spouse means 490 * 2 = 980 right ? and that will be in name of Canadian Consulate General"
Also at address:
3000 HSBC center, Buffalo NY 14203

I know information has been posted multiple times. I did not pay attention at that time and now searching thread with RPRF is bringing lots of unwanted results.

Can someone confirm fees ?

Sincerely,

the web of cic buffalo is so confusing, i bought the money order with the name of canadian consulate general, but i got the e-mail from Buffalo office and said

"The cheque should be addressed to the "Receiver General of Canada", however, we will still accept it."..

Ladies and Gents,

I can say that we are getting nearer and nearer achieving our Canadian PR if ever you will receive your passport request soon are you planning to send it via mail or do you plan to go directly to your local visa office and have it stamped? --My inquiring mind wants to know. Peace!

Update on my case. I got a job offer in Calgary last week. I have sent copy of offer letter to AINP. Waiting for letter of support so I can get a work visa. Does anybody know how long it takes for the AINP to respond?

Congrats! I don't have the answer but have seen posts from forum members who have. search for "offer" . Chalocanada posted his timeline and it was pretty fast: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t15729.0.html;msg447776#msg447776

BTW did it help in your Canadian job search to mention that you had already filed an application for PR? Meaning, did the CIC filing assist you in any way to get the job?
Best wishes!

Actually, the employer did not ask about my work authorization, and I did not volunteer the information until after the interview. I have a friend in Calgary who opened up her house to me, so I got a visitor's visa and spent time in Calgary to attend interviews. I also used her address on my resume.

Sorry Wendy2 for not replying to your message as I was in transit to Calgary for past 2 weeks(had a long road trip).

For my LoS it was very fast as I was in contact with the officer even before I received the offer letter. After I emailed my offer letter the next day his assistant contacted me on phone to ask which consulate I wanted to get the work permit processed. They said they will post mail the letter of support in 2 days to me, employer and consulate. I requested them to send a fax to me. I received the fax copy in 2 days.

After receiving the fax i spent like a week preparing my application and then went personally to LA office to get work permit. Upon reaching there I came to know they need mandatory 3 days to process the permit. But they were very helpful and said they will phone me with the result as soon as it is processed. And they did. received the work permit the next day via express mail.

work permit was for 1 yr. wife and daughter on visitor visa. Cost 150+150.

landed in calgary on Nov 2nd via coutts.

left the border in exact 1 hr. not much questions asked as I was on work permit.

came to know that I can't sell or dispose my car for 1 yr from the day of landing or have to pay tax.

can drive with US license plate for 90 days.

let me know if u have any other questions.

If you are somewhere in NY or NJ or neighboring states - You can take a day off, go have it stamped the same day.

But, if you are farther away - its not worth the time and money to go there and have it stamped. Just send it to them via USPS with return expressmail, they will ship it back to you in 10 days.. Amen !

ChaloCanada,

Thanks for the details. Why is your family on a visitor's visa? Did your wife not qualify for an open work permit? Also is there no dependent visa for children? I need to put my daughter in school when I get to Calgary, and I don't think I can do that on a visitor's visa.

AbuMalik;

I have personally not crossed the border, so I do not know what documents to carry. But, here's a link on AVRs posted by priya86.

Check posts from priya and rajesh; you might be able to get some information.

I am returning to the US using AVR tomorrow. I have my H1B document, old visa stamp and I-94. My office also issued a job verification letter to me, and asked me to print copies of my last 3 pay stubs, just in case.
