may be since your address is in canada thats why they are asking you about it.

But still why should that cause the Detroit office to request a new FBI Certificate? Please provide any information on this or if you know of anyone who went through this.

When did you send your CIC application, and what's the date on your FBI report?

one possibility is detroit might be checking why u left US. they wanna confirm u were not deported for any crime...

Did you voluntarily pick Detroit for your processing?

CIC applied: Jan 19, 2010

Nope, I did not pick Detroit. Infact I do not believe that would even be a choice. Am not even sure when it was moved to Detroit.

Maybe because your FBI is dated before your nomination??? That's almost like 2-3 months before you sent in your CIC application.

I think the FBI certificate does not really bear any expiry date. It only mentions background check done till such and such date. Probably in your case as your check was done prior to filing CIC thats what triggered a new request.
