May be my timeline would help you guys:

passport reached LA: Jan 16
Application status closed: Jan 23
passport received: jan 25

I didn't receive any emalil about status change and my USPS tracking was never activated during return shipping from LA. So, if your application status has been closed, there is a good chance, your passport has already been shipped.

I emailed them thrice including today...
No reply for any of them

Dont know whats going on.. fingers crossed

anyone got their status changed to closed in 5 days after delivery of passport? MY PP delivered on 25 jan to LA consulate and still nothing. I dont even know if they actually received my PP other than the USPS tracking says its delivered.

Sorry to hear the delay. I applied on Dec. 19, and got the request for passport on Jan. 28. But I applied just for myself only.

some times they act fast.however they can take more than one week to mail out our passports.once they mail the passport they will update the status to closed.

Congrats. Did you send you PP to LA or NYC? How many days did they take to stamp the PP?

Application status changed to Closed on - 24 JAN
Received my PP on 31-Jan

some times they act fast.however they can take more than one week to mail out our passports.once they mail the passport they will update the status to closed.

My status has changed to closed but my USPS return tracking is still not activated.

I believe it changed to closed on Friday evening. I am hoping they mail it out early this week.

PP was delivered on 27th Jan. (FYI... 25th was a holiday - Saturday)
