Visitor visa delay

Hi,

My father has applied for a visitor visa, with biometrics completed on March 27, 2025. It's been 2 months now and still he is waiting for a decision. Are such delays expected?
He applied through a travel agency, and there is no status update in their online portal with the IRCC.
Has anyone faced/facing similar situation? Is there any way to check directly with IRCC on the status?
The agency contacted IRCC via email and got a response saying the application is still in progress.

PS: Father applied for a super-visa first (my sister and brother-in-law have PRs in Canada), but then he was called multiple times for health-checkup, so finally converted it to visitor visa application.

Depending where he lives then processing can take many months with no updates. Webform has been sent. Agency can tell him whether background and eligibility has started or been completed. So tell him to ask the agency.
