Hi Folks,

Let me provide you the background on the case and then I will post the queries that I have and would appreciate your feedback.

Background:
  • Wife and I are expecting our first child towards end of June/early July
  • My mother applied for a visitor visa to come visit us around that time to support us and visitor visa for 10 years was issued
  • She applied alone as my father couldn't visit and was not planning to apply for a visitor visa at this time. So we marked him as not-accompanying.
  • While my mother's passport was at IRCC for visa stamping, I got diagnosed with Cancer and started chemotherapy.
  • My mother is now visiting us earlier than what we had initially planned for.
  • Chemotherapy would run for 4-6 months and would be followed by Stem Cell Transplant
  • Based on the current timelines, Stem Cell Transplant would occur within 3-4 weeks of our child's birth and I would need to be in the hospital for 10-20 days at a minimum for the procedure.
This would essentially mean that at the time when my wife would need the most support with the newborn, I would be in the hospital unable to help. Because of this my father is now planning to apply for a visitor visa, so that he could support me in the hospital and my mother would support my wife and the baby.

Query:
  • How should my father answer the question about the spouse where it asks "would this person be accompanying the applicant", given that my mother would already be in Canada by the time he applies and since my mother had answered no for the same question earlier as that's what the plan was originally?
  • Would mentioning about my wife's pregnancy and my diagnoses in his cover letter be helpful?
Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks
