Online Application for Work Permit

Hello Friends.

I am still waiting for my wife's passport request and its been 10 days since the status of the medical has changed to "passed" on mycic ( the application was send online). I just want to know how long it takes usually to get the ppr after the medical passed and most importantly how do the Islamabad High Commission corresponds for the PPR ?

Please reply and/or share your updates.

My wife applied for her OWP online from Pakistan on February 22, 2014 and very next day she got a msg on mycic requesting biometric fingerprints and photo. She did very next day morning i.e February 24, 2014 and online status has changed to biometric received.

Applying online doesnt change the procedure at all. In 90% of the cases, if a case is to be refused, it is prior to medical.

CIC attempts to call for medicals only when other stuff seems clear. So you have a good chance of success if you get a medical call (whether online or paper based is irrelevant). However, there is still no guarantee but usually refusals/delays received after medicals are related to medical reasons.

However, i have read of people who have been denied after medicals - stating non medical reasons like "not satisfied with your profile or you will return ties etc.". But these are rare.

You can always reapply. Nothing prevents from that. But it is better to apply when your situation has changed or at least you can prove with documents that the reasons of first time refusal are addressed. It might be a good idea to write an explanation letter and attach documents with your app covering past refusals.

Otherwise, you are likely to receive the same feedback again.

I presume you are already on work permit since you mentioned "new employer". Else you cannot apply from inside Canada.

The procedure is pretty much the same and same documents required probably. Applying online does not mean applying from inside Canada. You can still apply on paper as you please, but your application is treated as submitted "inside Canada" and processed with the time frame listed on CIC website.

So yes, you need photos and credentials again. But this is just an opinion, not some thing i have actually seen any one going through.

on their medical because the Physician said it's all good and
as I mention earlier,one of the reasons for refusal is that
they might not come back to Philippines after contract& financial
situation.With regards to the first reason,do u think that a supporting
letter from the employer will do?And for the current employment
and financial situation,what proof or documents we should attach?
That's why they want to work to Canada so their financial situation
will get better so I'm really confused with that reason.
And by the way,I forgot to mention u that only my 3 brothers received
a refusal letter,I just thought that my youngest brother will received one too
because they send an eMail to them one at a time..

I'm currently in Alberta Canada. My new work permit has been approved for my new job, however, I do not know how long it takes before they send me the actual work permit? Thanks a lot to whoever can answer this

You are most welcome and i am sorry to hear about the refusals.

The financial situation thing doesn't necessarily means you have enough money/property in Philippines to return to. It might have been over come, if your current job there is stable and relevant to your profession. Adding experience letters, bank statement showing INCOME being transferred regularly (not large balances) and pay slips from current job would help to establish good ties to Philippines.

If you were referring to supporting letter from CURRENT EMPLOYER in PHILIPPINES that might be useful. One from prospective employer in Canada isn't relevant because you probably already had a job offer and LMO.

Your complete scenario is not very clear to me. Also you guys have had multiple refusals for brothers. So may be it appeared to CIC that whole family is trying to relocate to Canada permanently this way, i don't know this is speculation based upon the limited understanding i have of your scene.

I would say if you have some one in Canada already, like yourself, may be you should apply for GCMS notes stating the precise reason for refusal and then make your plans accordingly. The notes contain more accurate reasons for refusals and would be far more helpful to address the cause latter.

The procedure to obtain those is listed online as well as discussed in many threads in forum. Just google "how to obtain gcms notes" and you would get the details

I got an email from the cic stating:
"Your application has been updated. Please sign in to your MyCIC account and check your application status and messages for more information."

-but when i logged in... i cant find the update/message. No new message.. :/ i already tried to logged in using a computer to check but still tbe same.... :/

Anymore suggestions what to do?
