hey guys,

- i sent off my application in september; it was received according to tracking code a few days later
- october 14, 2014 CIC sent me an email requesting a translation of my german police certificate (yes, stupid me forgot about it)
- october 27, 2014 i sent off the letter with translation of my police certificate; i assume it was received a few days later - maybe a week at max.

SO i understand that the processing time only applies to complete application packages...meaning whenever my translation of police certificate was received - that's when i start counting...right?

now i have another question:
i understand that you've to keep CIC updated on any changes...my common-law partner (and sponsor) had changed his jobs october 1, 2014; so on november 28, 2014 (after his probation was over) i sent them an email with the new letter of employment attached stating that i had sent the original by mail...

this shouldn't effect the timeline of the first stage (SA) approval though right? since it was just an "update"...

after i hadn't heard anything for a while, i sent them an email december 17, 2014 asking about SA approval...i got an email right back saying that my application is in process and they "thank me for my patience"... :D no patience over here!!!!

hmm...oh...also:
how do you get notified about SA approval? will we receive a letter in the mail? will i get an email or my sponsor or both?

thanks a lot guys! <3

Hi Saluma,

You should receive an email about SA if that's the way you chose to correspond when you first filled out your application. If you chose to correspond through snail mail, then they will mail you a SA letter. If you chose email, then check your junk/spam folders, because I received my SA through email but it went to my junk folder.

I didn't realize until four days after the email was sent, because I did a search for CIC in my inbox and and saw that it went to my junk folder.

Just Got AOR finally!

I had sent my app in october but they asked for a form again, even if we don't know why they asked for it but anyways.
they got the for on november 27th and not I got AOR

Use the UCI number and the details of the sponsor (given name and DOB) in the ecas. It should be there, if it doesn't show than I guess you'll have to wait till your SA.
Heyy i got my sa but still my ecas does not show anything ...??? Feeling confused

okk i got it..was dumb filled in sponsored persons details ..thnx for the advice ..got the info...

Hi Freshman,

Same with me! I received SA on Dec. 11! My husband did his medicals way in advanced (in May 2014) and E-cas still hasn't said "Medicals Received"! It only says "Application Received".

I was under the impression it should say medicals received, as I have friend who is going through the same process and her's said "Medicals Received" two days after she got SA!

The only thing I can think of is, it was the holidays, so there must be a back log due to vacations.

I'll give it another week before I send an email or give them a call!

We also did out medicals upfront and got SA lat week and it show medicals received and it was updated about 3 days after, if you had got your SA Dec 11th it should have been updated by now, your best bet would be to call the CIC

If you have added an email address to the application thats the preferred communication method and you (sponsor) will get an email about the approval

From what we have seen it looks like 6 days and I would add couple of days to that

hello! try to use the UCI on the email they sent u. and use the last name and DOB of the person sponsoring u. I was worried but my husband tried to access it using his information and there, it says, we will send a mail regarding our application like that. and he just received it today and it was SA.

glory be to GOD.

Yes, we already did that but it still says 'APPLICATION RECEIVED'.. the only change on it when I checked was on mine where it says "Medical results received" but nothing was said anything about an email or a letter was sent about a decision being made. :(

Congratulations on your SA. I hope we'd be getting ours soon.

guys if you can get an AOR, does that mean u will get an SA 100%?

Getting and AOR doesn't mean anything about SA, all it implies is that your file has been opened and is being processed.

i knw usually if SA is approved it comes after AOR within a week or more. but lets say if SA is not approved how long will it take for them to let us know?

We dont know any definitely period how long it would take but from the trend it is taking any where from 6 days to couple of week for a positive intimidation; we can presume it would take the same amount of time for a negative response.

You should stay positive and dont worry you will get your SA - A positive one :)

Hello everyone,

I just checked on ecas and it says decision made in sponsorship approval. It furthur says that they have send a letter on 22nd Jan. And under principal applicant it says medical received.

Does this decision made means its a positive one or could it be a negative one also. A little worried.
