Hi. OCI applicant from Montreal. Processed on the 23rd and dispatched from MEA on 24th. However, I dont see any update in the Received in Ottawa field. Is it normal ? Does it usually take time ? Please advise. Thanks!
Hey. What was your date of acknowledgment?

Good day dear fellow members :),

I want your suggestion regarding Indian passport surrender and OCI application after a legal name change (which I did after my citizenship & before applying Canadian passport).

I have had split name issue - (Indian passport--- Given name - Tee Jay, Surname - EMPTY; Canadian citizenship certificate---- Given name - EMPTY, Surname - Tee Jay). So, to get my name on Canadian passport--- as - Given name - Tee, Surname - Jay ....... I ended up doing a legal name change firstly and then I have applied my Canadian Passport ( "In Process"). My next step is Indian passport surrender-

1. As my name would look different in Indian passport and Canadian passport due to Legal name change, should I include any self declaration form or any notarized affidavit in my passport surrender application?

1a) - If yes, should it be self declaration form or a notarized affidavit?. Please share the sample of either option needed. will appreciate it.

1b) Do I need to include similar self declaration or notarized affidavit again second time while doing my OCI application later on?

Please share your comments. Thank you :) @abbas.pasha @armoured @Sammy3 mumbaikar

In that case, if processed today (with all three steps completed), we can expect "counter delivery.." update on Monday (at BLS site) and dispatch on Tuesday. An option is to ask BLS to hold it (do not courier) and then pick up in person on Tuesday (Nov 28).
I think 27th will be too early to try pickup and 28th too late unless a hold is put. If its BLS Brampton, people have had good success doing this, but you will have to make a trip on or before 27th to request hold to be sure.
You can request for hold even today.
Nov 27 is holiday at consulate

My suggestion would be to do a notarized affidavit. Contact a notary, discuss with them the topic and they will draft the affidavit for you to review which they can later certify
Same for SC and OCI

I received my OCI card on 11/24/2023. I am posting here so any future applicants may find this useful.

Canadian Citizen with US Permanent residency applying thru New York consultate.

Application received by VFS Global New York: October 16th
Application sent to Consulate for decision making: October 18th
Date of Acknolwedgement GOI site: 20 OCT 2023 (Indian time)
Document Printing Status PROCESSED on 17-NOV-2023 (IST)
OCI Received: 24th Nov 2023.

I would have received it on November 21st had I used their courier. I used USPS and it took couple of days due to Thanksgiving break.
