i am just curious can we postpone the ceremony once we received the letter. I am planning to visit my parents because of family reason. anyone who postponed their ceremony? thanks

you need to call and talk to the agent. everything is possible, but you need to have a good reason for that. remember what they said in the oath letter (about 90 days period)?
call the cic ask for their advice. has your oath ceremony been scheduled yet?

No not yet, i am waiting. I think i will wait ,who knows it will come after 3 months, i will be back on March 2nd. What do you suggest, i just do not want to give the advance heads up,

Hi. Are you sure that it is 4 to 6 months, not weeks?

Unfortunately, yes. They also added we could receive it as early as 2 months. But like what others have mentioned, it varies from office to office. I guess there might be a lot of backlogs at BC offices.

Today, I got a surprise in the mail from CIC notice - oath-taking ceremony on Jan 31, 2014. I was really expecting that it would take longer.

I can't edit my signature so I'll post my timeline here:

application received: June 21, 2012.
started processing: December 9, 2012.
citizenship test: December 10, 2013
oath-taking ceremony: January 31, 2014
