Canadian Citizenship Application for Parents (70+) – Questions

My parents are both over 70 years old, and we plan to submit their Canadian citizenship applications at the end of July 2026.

1. Since they are exempt from the citizenship test and language requirements, what are the typical processing times currently?
2. Do applications for seniors who are exempt from the test and language requirements generally get processed faster than regular applications?
3. They are planning to travel to India in mid-August. Will this have any impact on their citizenship applications?
4. If they receive an oath ceremony invitation while they are outside Canada, can they request a rescheduling if necessary?
5. Is there any requirement for them to be back in Canada a certain number of days before the oath ceremony, or do they simply need to be present on the date of the oath?
6. Has anyone recently gone through the citizenship process for parents aged 70+? If so, how long did the process take from application submission to oath ceremony?

2. Not significantly in most cases, but at least avoids delays on these two points that occur for some applicants. (Just note, you may not see the test/language requirements show as 'passed' in the tracker until the end - it doesn't mean they've forgotten these).
3. Not likely, it won't take less than three months - assuming they're not gone for many months.

5. Just the day of the oath.
