For those who have ordered GCMS notes and have gotten past the dreaded April 23, did you see movement in your application prior to the deadline listed? The GCMS notes listed a deadline last week that came and went but the online tracker is still stuck on April 23 (no test invite yet). Does this mean the application is now considered non routine, or does IRCC just not care about the deadlines listed in the application?
I ordered GCMS notes (paid) since Nov 3rd. I am stuck on April 23. I haven't seen any notes or any movement on my file. I'm convinced my file is lost

Even more interesting is this bit:

Moving forward, we are exploring an option for those who wish to self-administer their Oath by signed attestation, and celebrate their citizenship at a later date. This would shorten the waiting time for those at the final stage of their citizenship process.
In other words, you get to send a "I solemly swear that I am up to no good sang the national anthem and am a Canadian citizen now. Pls give passport kthanxbaiiiiiii"

That’s a solution that will finally clear the oath backlog. Hope it won’t increase the certificate and passport wait times.

Oh It'll clear it alright, but I bet the media are going to have a field day about the 'improperly inducted' citizens this method is going to be perceived to produce. There's been a lot of exemptions done to the process already - people taking citizenship tests outside the country, virtually no interviews for the most part except for non-routine cases and even some thread I was reading earlier where they allowed the person to allegedly take their oath of citizenship outside Canada.

Not that I mind personally, it's just that I don't want this to be further trouble down the road where the government turns around and says "For citizenship applicants who applied between X and Y date, please note that you will need to re-appear for an oath ceremony in order to be considered a Canadian citizen or your travel documents will be invalidated" etc, which seems to be implied with the whole 'celebrate your citizenship at a later date' bit in that quote. When this process is done I want it to be done and stay done.

I don't think they can just do something without consulting their legal department and making sure it's 100% legal. Once implemented, you cannot force people to re-take oath :/

A lot of the decisions being taken at the moment are a direct result of the bureaucratic equivalent of a black swan event. If you'd told a bureaucrat in 2017 that we'd be doing virtual citizenship tests and oaths via Zoom calls, they'd have a right laugh at your expense. A lot of what is happening was always meant to happen, but current circumstances sped it up to the point where it serves a single purpose - to reduce the backlog.

I'm happy that they're eventually happening, but there's a real fear that some conservative twat a few election cycles from now comes in and decides to cause issues. Not saying it'd be a complete revocation, but more of a 'we need you to redo this one thing to close the loop on it' that seems like it'll happen if they go down some paths to minimize the backlog vs. others.

I just add, what nationality are they?

I have no clue what anything you just wrote means. Care to explain? :)
