Hi everyone,

Looking for some advice from folks who’ve been through the citizenship process.

I submitted my Canadian citizenship application in November. In late December, I was refused entry into the US at the border because I forgot to carry my old passport that has my valid US visa stamping. It was purely a documentation issue — no overstay, no violation, nothing criminal. I returned to Canada and went back to the US after getting my old passport the same day.

This incident happened after I submitted my citizenship application, and now I’m wondering:
1. Do I need to proactively inform IRCC about this via a web form?
2. Is a post-submission US entry refusal even something IRCC expects to be disclosed?
3. Could not updating them cause issues later if it comes up during background checks?

I don’t want to over-report and complicate things unnecessarily and delay the process, but I also don’t want to under-report and risk misrepresentation.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s dealt with something similar or has insight into IRCC expectations here.

Thanks in advance!
