Thats why they are not working on all of 2020, just the last few months of 2020 which covers 12 months.
I don't know how they do what they do. I just know that I have been waiting for over two months to get the oath invite. Application processing time is over two years now. Deadline at the time was 12 months, so...

Just received my ATIP notes and in file location area (Ottawa IRCC, Remote workplace) which means they have access to paper files remotely. I think they work on 2020 files faster, because they have 12 months standard processing time and they need to make good statistics, we are forgotten covid files, nobody cares...
Why they don't go back to offices? 50% capacity can move things along quicker. More than 75% are vaccinated. Of course it will be slow if they keep bringing file by file to their homes. This is inefficient. Also, they could have digitalized the files, and access them online, but I doubt they implemented this

These guys cant even work from home and many people are not getting that chance.

I am working from home and finishing work but still my office decided to call back all employees in my city from Nov after vaccination (- with a note for those who want to work from home will face separation/termination by sep).

The wait is far from over. I started to see oath invitations on Feb 2022 for those who already have DM for their files. This means many of us won't finish the journey this year

Yes, Seems like DM itself is a big thing if we get it this year.

At this point, The only option I see, to reduce the backlog is resumption of regular office work.
Correct it wont happen. Even if it happens but focus deliberately on something else(at least on paper) to avoid working hence not seeing any solution this year to arrest backlog growth.

Took the test on April 21st, everything is completed as of May 3rd. Only thing left is the oath. Still waiting...

I remember reading when taking the tests that it would be up to 3 months for the Oath. It's been longer than that, and there are obviously people that have done tests in May and June and already taken it, and others that have been waiting for so long... soo... what gives?

I am not sure this will resolve the issue, because even return to offices may entails less than 100% capacity. I am surprised how in the age of Internet, IRCC still struggle to find an effective way to deal with situation. If they invested some time digitizing the paper-based applications, things would be much better now. The reality says that, our applications will likely need 3 years if not more to be finished. I am close to 2 years, waiting for the oath, and I see people who got DM before me invited for the oath in Feb 2022  This means I will probably get oath in Q2 2022, especially with the Montreal office

Now they are finalizing June 2-8 2019 applications, after stuck in finalizing May 26 - Jun 1st 2019 applications for more than a month. If every 6 days take a month, this means ...
I really wish we could do the oath via a notary public or something. I can understand the delays in processing, but I simply don't get the delays in oaths. There are so many alternative ways to organize the oath process

I think they are making oath ready pool huge so that they can have huge mass oath in-person ceremonies, very soon once they resume regular office work. Doing oaths for 500-600 people a day per office may be possible once in-person services resume. With that speed, they can clear the oath pool pretty quickly. Just we have to wait patiently a bit more. Good luck.
