Well, what can I say....Working on applications received on January 29, 2013.....and where are those late November applications?? Lost in the pile?? Disappeared??It would be very interesting to hear what CIC agent can tell me over the phone....definitely calling tomorrow.

I wonder what would happen if they lose sponsorship application?? It is a possibility!! Any thoughts??

My timeline is 27th of November.

Speaking of loosing things by the government.....you might want to read this:

This happened to my wife! She received a letter from the govt saying "Oops we lost your very important info" Such a pain in the ass, you have to have everything monitored for YEARS now!

Here's a question- I'm heading back to Canada April 2nd and we are hoping by sometime in June/July to have my PR go through. Labor Day weekend Dave Matthews is playing 3 days at the Gorge in Washington and we really want to go. If my PR has NOT gone through by then, how likely do you think it is that if I leave I won't be able to get back into Canada?!

That is hard to say. It is a chance and it depends on the IO you get. I would say you since you are American you may have a better chance than most, however it is hard to say how easy it may be.

If you're traveling with your Canadian partner + the proofs that you have applied for PR and passed stage 1, and you say that you are visiting her, it shouldn't be a problem. There is always a risk when crossing borders, but in your case, American, with PR started, traveling with your partner, it's quite unlikely that you would get refused. No guarantee of course, but judging by the experiences of other US/Can couples on the forum, it's fairly unlikely that you will get refused entry into Canada.

don't panic! :-) not having heard from them doesn't mean that your file is lost... might just mean that you never got the approval letter, and/or the email etc... and maybe your file is already in stage 2, and you're just not aware of it - which would be good, less time obsessing about stage 2!
Calling is probably the best option, and if you have been approved, they can tell you over the phone ( if you haven't been approved as well!). Good luck with getting through though - they "jumped" from processing 20th of November to 29th of January - I would assume that there will be a fair number of people trying to get through tomorrow.

I really hope that is the case. I thought I had given the wrong email address in the forms when I first saw the date jump, but the email address is correct. I can imagine I'm not the only one panicking so there'll be lots of wait time on the phone :( I REALLY hope it has been processed already. Thanks for the reassurance! Helps a lot at times like these :'(

Re November 2012 Applicants Unite!

hi everyone,
I've just got a letter from Beijing Embassy. It says "This will confirm that we have received your application for permanent residence in Canada on
11/13/2012. We recommend that you submit all documents using EMS or registered mail. When you do so, you
should clearly note for your records the registered mail number.

But I already submit all my documents in other word, gave to my sponsor (as they asked), my sponsor sent them to Ottawa (after he was proved as a sponsor), Ottawa sent them to Beijing office as we live in China at this moment.
Are they asking to send documents again? Do you guys get the same letter? did you send twice? I don't really have other documents to send them again . Please share your experience if you can.....

wow thats pretty awful if they actually lose someones application and make them re-submit it all over again... as if it wasnt enough work doing it the first time! thats frustrating. just be persistent and make sure you get to the bottom of why you haven't heard ONE WORD back from CIC yet.... it may take a while to get a nice, polite, considerate agent on the phone and i know it's annoying to have to be on hold for more than 15 minutes at a time sometimes.... but you have the right to know what's going on ESPECIALLY since youre past the processing times on the website.

thanks for the updates! the only thing missing is my destination but i think i'm gonna hold off on that until we get approval : )

Hello everyone!

I just checked the Processing times and it says they are working on applications received on Jan 29.
All that we've gotten so far is "Application Received".
Should I get something in the mail or e-mail about Sponsorship approved, or should it be in our application status?
Should I call somebody and where should I call? We are in Brazil.

Thank you all!

Well, I'm in the same boat.

How could they jump from Nov. 20 to Jan 29, right?
I'm here freaking out too. But don't worry. We are going to be just fine!

Hi BrazilianGirl

I would call CIC to inquire about your application. You should recieve sponsorship approval by either email or post - depending on your IO. Your E-cas may update to decision made, however that does not seem to be reliable.

You should be fine. Maybe bring a copy of your sponsorship approval letter with you, though I think the border officers (in the building, not the booths) can pull up your file. We went through Peace Arch/Blaine in December and the officer was the one who told us we got sponsorship approval. He also gave me a 1 year visitor record without me asking. The one thing our lawyer told us was to avoid the Abbotsford crossing, because the officers there aren't as familiar with "visiting while PR app in process" type situations. Good luck.
