Hello there,

I'm still waiting for an update on my PR application (last update August 4, passed the medical exam), BUT besides that, I also applied for a new work permit on April 4, as mine was going to expire on July 2025. Until today I've still haven't received any news about the work permit (almost a year at this point), and my concern is the following: I applied for a new work permit, which it should compress the period from July 2025 to July 2026. What happens if I don't get the new work permit before July 2026? Because as far as I'm concerned I can't apply for another extension without a valid one in hand.

A BGWP is usually a two-year work permit that is valid from the day it is approved, not the day you applied.

Hi Miss Bee,

When IRCC returns your application, including the payment receipt, can you resubmit using the payment receipt you submitted the first time?

It is normal that there have been no updates yet. For your spouse, because she has never completed an Immigration Medical Exam before, IRCC will most likely send her a medical request later in the processing stage.
You can choose to do an upfront medical exam now, and there would generally be no problem with doing it early. The panel physician will upload the results directly to IRCC’s system, and when the officer reviews your file, those results will already be available. However, in practice this usually does not make the process faster, because IRCC typically reviews eligibility and background stages first and then sends the medical request when they are ready to assess admissibility. If the medical is done early, the officer may still wait until that stage to review it.Because of IRCC’s newer policy allowing previous immigration medical results to be reused for up to five years for eligible low-risk applicants, expiration is less of a concern than it used to be. Even so, since your spouse has never done an IME, IRCC will likely still issue an official medical instruction. Doing it now is optional and generally safe, but most applicants simply wait for the request, since it does not usually speed up the processing timeline.
Thanks a lot for your insight Miss bee! I will them wait until they request it!

@Miss bee I am based in Dubai. And as per current situation of the region I am worried about the funds which are in the bank. My Application is almost in final stage. I have applied in September 2024 and my AOR was on March 15, 2025, ADR for BIL & Medical was on August 8, 2025, PAL was on August 28, 2025. The ghost update was on January 6,2026. My questions are :
  1. Will IRCC ask again proof of funds in case I will withdraw my funds due to the regional situation?
  2. When can I expect my final decision?
  3. Can I request to IRCC for speed up my application (PNP-NEE).
Regards,

@Miss bee i went to do my biometrics yesterday and after 1 day of giving biometrics in my pr tracker its says biometrics completed in green color does that mean its received by them and its completed because I have not seen this fast something being updated or my pr tracker is not accurate

Yes , biometrics gets updated right away when you do it .

I think we're in the same boat here - I applied in August 2023, received AOR in December 2023, been in securities since September 2024. I logged on to my GCKey account last week and noticed and the BG check status changed to N/A. Would that suggest that the securities have been completed? Saw people say that most likely that's the case and the application has moved to the final stage.
Hi @Miss bee, could you comment on this based on your experience?
From GCMS notes that I received in October, 2025: Criminality - passed, Info Sharing - completed, Security - in progress. Wondering if the change in the BG check status to N/A that I noticed last week could suggest that I've passed the security check as well. Thanks a lot in advance!
