Yes, your employer is generally required to submit an offer of employment through the Employer Portal and pay the $230 employer compliance fee, even if your PNP nomination has no employment restrictions, if your work permit is employer-specific and falls under LMIA-exempt code T13. Then you have to mention that job offer number in your work permit application which starts with AXxxxxxxxx along with other documents like job letter, pay stubs, nomination certificate, new Work permit support letter, your passport copy , previous work permit copy and your picture.

2-

You can apply by paper, but it’s not faster — online applications are processed more quickly in most cases. However, applying together as a family unit (you + spouse + kids) is possible in both online and paper formats.

Key Points
  • Paper applications are slower (processing times can be significantly longer).
  • Online is faster, and you can submit family applications together in one bundle.
  • If you’re trying to coordinate new permits for all family members, online is the preferred method.
  • When you apply for a new work permit using the PNP support letter, your spouse can apply for an open work permit (spousal SOWP) and kids for visitor/study permits, as accompanying dependents.
Thanks @Miss bee for your clear and concise answers I really appreciate it.

Another quick question - is there any direct resources online that can direct my employer in creating an employer Portal and pay the fee online?

Hi @Miss bee , thank you for you support in this thread. I have a peculiar question:
I'm waiting for P2 and hopefully I will receive it in the next couple of weeks. I am in Canada but in a couple of months I might have to travel abroad for about a week. Based on the timelines shared, I don't think I will have received my PR card before the trip. If that happens, what do you suggest? I know about requesting PRTD (permanent resident travel document) while being abroad without a PR card, but is that the best/proper way to do it? Thank you again.

Yea if you don't have PR card , only option is PRTD unless you are from visa exempt country.

Usually when I call IRCC, I receive updated on tracker " Enquiry received". This time my tracker has not been updated. It's been a week since I called IRCC. Is anyone facing similar issue ?

Hi everyone,

I’ve already submitted my immigration application and included the IMM5406 (Additional Family Information) form.
I do not have any children, so when filling out Section B: Children, I wrote "Not Applicable" in the "Relationship" field and left the other fields blank.

However, after submitting, I downloaded the final PDF and noticed that Section B appeared completely blank — even the part where I wrote “Not Applicable” didn’t show up.

Now I’m unsure — will IRCC consider that section incomplete since it looks empty?
Should I send a webform to explain that I don’t have children and that Section B is intentionally not filled?

Has anyone experienced something similar? I’d really appreciate your helps!

Hey everyone & @Miss bee,

I applied for Non-Express Entry PR under the SINP Student Stream on February 17, 2024. My background check started in August 2025, but I haven’t received any updates since then.

I ordered my GCMS notes, and they mention that my file is currently under a comprehensive security check. Still waiting on the final decision.

Is anyone else in the same situation? Also, has anyone here lived in Turkmenistan and gone through this process?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I have applied (AR 25 Sep 2023, AOR 3 Jan 2024, and Passed be and medical on the 3rd and 5th of Feb 2024).
Today (after 11 and half months), I have been asked for my resume and my military record (mandatory service, Sarbazi)

I wonder if this is a good sign and if it means that I will soon get a response back or if it means that I should wait for so long now, as a new investigation is started?
The same thing happened to me as well. IRCC asked resume and a Government-related (HR in Education) form, then a comprehensive background check still waiting for the final decision. It has been 10 months already

Hi,

I ordered GCMS and CBSA notes and received them today, on first page it says me and my husband:

Eligibility: Passed
Security: In Progress
Criminality: Passed
Medical: Passed
Info sharing: Complete

On last pages, Note 1 also shows:
NOTES: 1
Created Date: 2024/08/08
Updated Date: 2024/08/08

Label: Adm/Security
Office: Centralized Intake Office
Text: SECURITY DATA ENTRY COMPLETE AND SUBMITTED

So it looks like the only pending thing is security and under my spouse Security Screening section it shows:

Security Screening Type (A34): Comprehensive
Priority: Normal

----------------------------------------------------------------
this is my timeline here

PNP - Foreign Worker Stream -ONTARIO

AR- Jan 15 2024
AOR -April 12
BIL - April 12
PAL- May 25
Medical request: May 27
Medical Passed : June 08
ADR: June 14 ( asked for Military record and CV for my husband)

PASSED EVERYTHING Eligibility, Criminality /INFO SHARING done

SECURITY is in progress since June 20 and no update yet!

PVO is SYDNEY /NOVA SCOTIA
SVO is Ottawa

Does this mean it will likely get delayed and can we do anything to get result faster ?
Also, received by CBSA , it means CSIS section is done or not ?

Thank you for your help in advance
Hey, did you receive the FD? If yes, how long does it take after this security check?

Hey everyone & @Miss bee,

Many applicants under the SINP Student Stream, especially in the non-Express Entry pathway, have experienced prolonged delays once their applications enter the comprehensive security screening stage. Based on shared experiences from forum, it’s common for this phase to last anywhere from 10 to 16 months, and in some rare cases, even up to two years. These extended delays are usually due to the involvement of multiple security and intelligence agencies, particularly when an applicant has lived, studied, or traveled in countries that may trigger more in-depth check.Since your GCMS notes indicate that your file is currently under security screening, it’s likely still progressing, even if no updates have been provided since August 2024. Many applicants in similar positions have eventually received approval after long periods of silence. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to continue ordering GCMS notes every 30–60 days, submit periodic IRCC webform inquiries to keep your file active, and consider contacting your local Member of Parliament (MP) for a status check. While these actions may not speed up the process, they help ensure your file doesn’t get overlooked. If it continues far beyond the average timeline without resolution, you might also consult an immigration lawyer to discuss the possibility of a mandamus application.
