Hi guys,

I have been following this four for a while now. Nice job everyone. Congrats to those who have received positive responses and God help those still waiting.
I have a small concern. My family and I have done our medicals and awaiting PPR. However, I just realized I am 8weeks pregnant with baby number2. We plan to live in Alberta, so my question is if anyone knows how soon Alberta gives the health insurance card and if i would pay hospital bills for child delivery?

Most importantly ,Congrats on your new Canadian coming ......I assumed the Xray shield was used during the procedure .
Alberta is one of the provinces that you can get your health care insurance cover as soon as you apply.Only 4 provinces have a waiting period of about 3 to 4 months......British Columbia ,Ontario ,Quebec and New Brunswick falls into this category.
Health-care services covered by Medicare include:
Examination and treatment by family doctors;
Many types of surgery;
Most treatments by specialists;
Hospital care;
X-rays;
Many laboratory tests; and
Most immunizations.
Your public health insurance will only pay for essential or medically necessary services.
Health-care services not covered by Medicare, and for which you will have to pay include:
Amulance services
Prescription drugs
Dental care
Glasses and contact lenses
These services are sometimes covered by workplace benefits packages.Some provinces do pay for non-medical services, such as prescription drugs. In some cases, both you and your province will pay a portion of the total cost.

To apply for a health insurance card you will need to apply to the ministry of health in the province or territory where you live. You can get an application form from the provincial ministry of health, or in any doctor's office, hospital or pharmacy. Apply for your health insurance card as soon as possible after arriving in Canada.
You will need to show your birth certificate, Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292) and passport. You may also show your Permanent Resident Card. You may need to provide other documents showing your name, address and signature.

Congrats to all forumites who got an update lately and for quite a number of us that awaits update from AVO, God will make it happen soon.

A quick one. Is there anyone in the house who had his medicals at Q-life between last week and now? A fellow applicant that I got acquainted with during medicals said that they have challenges in uploading medical results of late. Please, can someone attest to that?

Hello B.A, if you are in Lagos, this information should help, and also for other Lagos applicant. I was at the Muri Okunola branch of DHL today and they confirmed that not all branches are enabled to issue prepaid pickups. However, the Muri Okunola branch does. Details required include: PPR mail from AVO, Name, Application # and passport # for applicants. These details should be sent via email to rita.abikwi@dhl.com (08120179661). Cost is N20,232 as @ today.
