OK got your point.. I guess there are mainly two options WES or ICAS.. but what do you think if you are going for it.. which of them would you prefer..

Thanks Manish. Education equivalence is optional for job hunters but many people including CIIP has recomended it. They opinion was what if employer has not made up his min on hiring you and need just the right thurst, in that case it is handy

Few of my contacts in Canada got jobs with out it, so I know it is just optional

Hi Friends,

Is there any Checklist avaiable as below ??

"What are the things to Plan & Settle personally before we move from Homeland to Canada."

If there is a ready made general list, then it will be useful for every one to customize for their own.
In addition to Ankits' list, if we can expand little more it will be very good. Pls share your experiences.

(Hope already there is a thread available from others !!)

For the Insurance, Qorax's post may be useful.

Hi Nuskan

For Insurance Qorax post is useful but does not serve purpose of people traveling from India. Qorax recommended booking return ticket to get travel insurance but the insurance compaies provide this for non immigrant visas and not immigrant visa. Insurance company require Visa copy at time of claim including enrty and exit stamp on PP, so it may be a problem to get reimbursement then.

Fo immigrant visa I have not been able to locate a insurance co. providing 90 days of insurance

Guys ,although i haven't recieved the visa yet but need to know that insurance is mandatory for migrating to canada.

No it is not required by Law or mandatory. But god forbid, if u need any medical attention how would you pay for it. A small thing can cost 1000s of dollars in US/Canada. Therefore I would not want to travel w/o insurance

You can get it done from either. Actually your equivalency agency will depend on your State- For Ontario WES is better

Guys I visited Scotia bank and they said that if you want account through them, then you need to contact them 4 weeks before departure.

Process - Take your PP and COPR and rest will be taken care by Bank
You get a welcome kit and A/C no. in 20-22 days
In one go you can transfer the amount you want to. u get only one chance for Wire Transfer
Scotia bank releases u a advice ( Bank certificate) which is as good as as Bank certificate and works as POF at port of entry

The Banker advised me that any body who wishes to open the account should take prior appointment. The Contact Details fo Scotia Bank ND are
Shikha Kumar -9891010150

hello ankit.....

i have a doubt.. please help

I have shown proof of funds along with the full document submission. Can I withdraw from that proof of funds (fixed -deposit) and convert it to drafts, cash and TC (CAD 17000 = family of 3) and show this at the Port of entry to an immigration officer?
