Hi Experts,

I just realized that my son's name is mentioned wrong in his passport. His name is Vikram Jain but its mentioned as

NAME: Vikram Jain
Surname: Arun Jain

Arun is his father's name. So according to his passport, his name is Vikram Jain Arun Jain. I dont want to submit the passport to edit this because I have only two months to apply and I dont know how long it will take them to make this change. I dont want to take any chance. So can i submit and affidavit stating that his name is Vikram Jain and its not what passport says? Would that be enough?? His name on his Birth certificate is Vikram Jain.

Thanks

The credentials in the passport must be correct as its an identity proof as well. You should get the name corrected. It shouldn't take much time as the passport officer may write the correct name under observation and sign stamp it.

Thanks,

I went to the passport office and they said I have to submit an application and it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get that changed.

Oh. I think the correction procedure has updated now. I got mine corrected through old way. Thanks for the info.
