I have a quick question, my passport will expire in few months. If I renew it now and upon passport request, I send the new passport, would that complicate?

This is the best you can do. Please submit your passport for renew immediately. This will be much easier done before the they request for it then issue a COPR thereafter.
I changed my surname (taking up my husband's) and i submitted the new passport, this has been updated in the system.

I suggest that you do it urgently.

Tnx for the swift reply. I'll process renewal starting tomorrow. Did u inform them via email, when u changed ur surname on ur passport?

Karibu sharon I started process in february. Currently waiting on the passport to be returned its gonna be 2 months plus. Hoping for gd news in the fall. I think average time ive heard is 4 months to 9 months for sponsership for most recent applications. I have a few friends who have sponsered their wives and they are already here.



Any news Ca-Ke about your passport returned? Maybe you should call them. Have you heard if anyone else had their passport held for that long? That's really odd....

Good Afternoon everyone!!!

I'm also sponsoring my husband from Ethiopia and were use Kenya,Nairobi has our visa office. The receive my application for Feb 23,2015 with med done upfront.

they requested new information in June 2015 which was good since I had just come back from Ethiopia to visit him and his family.

now in on august 2, I took the day off from work for his interview....the told us to I should be available just in case they call me and he should bring his passport , police report, my passport copy pics etc.... he brought those with him to interview. the interview went well he said... the didn't call me and they told him they will call in back within one week. since that day no response or update on cic.gc.ca website........ I would love to talk to someone who has been in similar position.

I know this is long but thanks for reading.

Ca-Ke its quite encouraging.
I saw the changes this morning at 0730hrs but i received an email regarding the update at 1600hrs, less than an hour ago.

There is usually this email below and they update in a few days as long as they have not requested for your travel document;-
