Hello members,
At least Nairobi communicated to me about re-scheduling my interview that i have been waiting for all this time.
My interview is next month (20th Feb 2014), please keep me in your prayers.

You can continue to advise, guide and help on how to prepare for my interview where necessary. By the way, how long does it take to issue a visa after interviews??? Any ideas?

Thats really good Rose, all the best with your interview ... it will go well and soon you'll be re-united with your love:)

As for me, there was an issue with the COPR they sent us, one wasn't right so we had to send the passport and both COPRs back, now waiting for them to re-issue ...

Hi everyone :D! I am new to this Forum; after I have read a couple of posts, I realized I am going thru the same thing: I applied for spouse sponsorship in October13 and my sponsorship got approved on 17 October13. Since then, I never heard from CIC, I checked my ecas, nothing new, still showing "application received", I just can't take it anymore ! my wife got sent to the hospital twice for depression.

We got married in May14 and it`s been almost 8 months we have not seen each, we did not even have a proper honey moon.

Does anybody know if in the Nairobi Visa office they deliver temporary visa, I know they are very strict on their rules, but does any body know if there is any possibility they would issue a temporary visa while processing the file? I do not want to waste my money if the chances are 0

As a permanent resident, based on what I read from CIC website, you are not allowed to leave the country while the file is being processed; which means that I cannot go to see my wife in Africa, the other option would be to get a temporary visa for her; which is what I am studying now.

Does anybody have a thread on that? Please advise if you do?

Hi,

I am new to the forum and have a question about travelling.

I am a canadian citizen living in Canada and my wife, (whom i married in Canada), lives in nairobi. I just submitted ( Feb 6, 2014) my spousal sponsorship to the CIC in Mississauga. I have booked a flight to go visit her in april for 2 weeks. The question I have is can she also come here and visit me (for a couple of weeks) while the paper work has been submitted?

@Mokomori - you can try to apply for a temporary visa but chances are, you won't be successful since she has stronger ties to you in Canada than she has in Africa. But that also depends on what she is doing in Africa, ie if she has a good job, owns a business etc. A lot of people have tried that but most failed due to weak ties to their spouses' countries of residence. So, your chances are not very favourable.

@bono - depends on her status, or what country she is from. If she is a Canadian resident, then there would be no problem with her visiting. But regardless, you might have a strong case since she was able to leave Canada after you got married to her. That could make the visa officer think that she would honor her visitation time and return to Nairobi when her intended visit period is up. You should apply for a TRV if she is from a non-visa exempt country so she can visit you.

@Soon2b- Thank you for your clarifications, I truly appreciate. It is really unfortunate things are like that, even prisoners have the right for more frequent conjugal visits. I cannot tell how many couples are being destroyed because of those lengthy procedures despite their genuine commitments, there must be hundreds out there. Why don't our Mps push for a spouse Visa? I believe, if I am not mistaken, some other countries like the USA, Australia have that Visa. Why can't we, as an immigration country? getting tougher on marriage fraud is a necessity, but how about those thousands like me who sent all undeniable proofs of their genuine marriages? I believe our MPs should spend a couple months away from their family, only then would they understand the pain we are going through.

Hi all,
My interview has been successful and my passport has been submitted for visa issuing. I would like to thank each and everyone on this forum has taken time to respond, advise and encourage me. It has been a tough moment waiting for this but am glad that all went well. The Visa Officer was so friendly and asked things that we had already filled in application forms (i think for clarifications) and in 30minutes i was done. I have been told to pay a pre-paid courier service (DHL or FEDEX) which will deliver my passport/visa.
Does anyone know how long Nairobi takes to return passport??

Anyway, now i can wait eagerly sure that soon my visa will be issued. All the best to everyone, am almost through with this process.
Cheers!!

Rose13@ I am very happy for you :D, as I know exactly what you went thru ( I read a couple of your posts). I am actually going thru the same stressful waiting time(applied early Oct13), but I am keeping faith. Regarding the Visa, once you have submitted your passports, could be very fast (7 to 20 days depending where you leave)

Rose13@ you are almost there, keep us posted !

Hi Mokomori79, Charliem & CanadaNow,
Thanks for the wishes and everyone else on this forum. Members here kept me going even during that moment when i felt so low and almost running out of patience.
I have paid for a DHL return coupon and hopefully my passport/visa/COPR will be delivered soon and then i will travel within the month of March God willing. Me and my husband are just ready for the reunion immediately i get my COPR.
Indeed, the snow is slowly melting down in Canada so will get to enjoy summer.
Thanks once again & i will endevour to keep in touch on this forum wherever i go.
Cheers to all of us & All the best!!

Hi everyone :) It has been very quiet around here these last few days. I just wanted to keep you updated regarding my case: I went to my MP and asked him to do some follow up of my file; he checked my file thru their system and advised it was put on queue for background checks.

My question is for how long does it normally stay there? I know that it is based on first come first served basis, but can anybody tell me approximately how long it takes them to start processing your file once it is in queue ?

Thank you guys for your quick reply :)

Hello there, thanx for sharing this. It's really important to keep on our toes. I did apply under 2113 a Month ago and no response so far. I understand it can take up to three months.
Is it true that most FSW come from Mauritius? If so, what is it that they look out for that other countries do not offer?

Ask.
