My file number changed from a Bxxxx to an Fxxxxx

B# is your paperfile number.
This is what VO told me before...
Those numbers usually come with your AOR

hey there, when you want to check up your status application with using Bxxxx you have to choose file number on the category and the other one client ID you have to put 8 numbers withouth any letter .hope you do it well

Visa files start with F and/or B, followed by 9 digits. That's all it means.

Our file # starts with F too. Didn't think it mean anyting special til I read this thread!

MY FILE WAS ALWAYS A B0XXXXXXX FILE BUT 2 WEEKS AGO I GOT AN EMAIL FROM IMMIGRATION TO LET ME KNOW ABOUT MY SCHEDULED INTERVIEW AND AT THE TOP IT HAS A F0XXXXXXX FILE NUMBER, I TRIED WITH BOTH NUMBERS ON ECAS USING MY NAME, LOCATION AND DOB AND IT WORKED, I CAN LOG IN WITH BOTH FILES, SO IM GUESSING IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STAGE OF YOUR APPLICATION.

In March-2011, my imm. file no. was changed from B00000 to E00000. Yes 'E'.
Which was disclosed to me because I was unable 2 log with B0000 number.

my application status is updated with a single line.
I am logging in ECAS using E0000 number.

I also got a E0000XXXXX file no on May 24, 2012 after receiving my MR. As soon as the E file number activates, the B file number not working to check E-cas. it could be some kind of landmark throughout the process.
