Well once you get nominated; you don' have to wait for the PR. Your lawyer can apply for a work permit for you!

I knew you could get a work permit based on a nomination certificate but thought that you needed a job offer i.e it was for non business people, are you saying you can get an open work permit to allow you to start working for yourself?

That's interesting - in that case then it just leaves having the extra $100k available as the only tangible "benefit " of the new scheme !

According to new laws they will give TR instead of PR. So how will we get PR and how much time will it take to get PR after landing .

You need to establish your business in accordance with your business plan within 2 years of arriving after that you will get nominated and then apply for paper based PR so between 18 months and 31/2 years depending on how quickly you get your business going.

It only takes 7 weeks for a work permit, the PR time is the same old or new rules, main difference is that you will be waiting out the PR processing time in Canada while running your business and hopefully making some money!

Yes but under the old system - as bchatila said above I could apply for work permit and would then end up in the same position as someone on the new scheme but with $100k less in my pocket!
