My husband had his medical redone in January, first one expired. How long does it take for the embassy to get the go ahead on that?

this question is for every single person who has done or is already in the sponsorship process. We got married here in Mexico, and are trying to find out if there are any steps to take after the civil wedding to authenticate the marriage certificate. I have been reading on websites that we need to get the marriage certificate signed from the state judge to approve the judge that married us was authentic. then we have to take it to Mexico City and get the federal judge to sign and approve of the state judge, only then we can take it to canadian consulate and get it stamped.
is says this specifically in one information site : A certified copy of the Original Marriage Certificate may be obtained from the Registro Civil, once the marriage has been performed. This document can be legalized by the Canadian Embassy or Canadian Consulates in Mexico, so it can be recognized thereafter as a valid document by any Canadian authority.
has anyone here got married in mexico and heard about this. it this true that my marriage in Mexico is not yet valid in Canada? tell me what you did

That is why we did not get married in Mexico, we went to Canada to get married. It was much easier than having to deal with all of that. So to my knowledge that is what you have to do.

we got married in Mexico. Sure the process to actually get married was hard but to be recognized in Canada as a married couple all we needed to do was have the "Acta de Matrimonio" translated by a certified translator for immigration. You don't have to do anything to have it recognized.

Since the civil wedding took place legally under both mexican and canadian law, and there's a certificate to prove it, our marriage is legit in the eyes of the canadian government.

We got married in Mexico, I got the "act de matrimonio" translated by a certified translator and we sent that in. No problems. None of that other stuff required.

I know Canadians who have gotten married in Mexico, the only time it caused problems was when they got divorced. Then they had to find a translate.

man.. I am so confused. I agree with all you guys are saying, but it is hard to be confident when every government building is saying I need all these signatures to use the marriage certificate outside of mexico. I can only stay in Mexico another month with my wife to get this figured out so we can send off the application. This is the only thing we are waiting on.
So you got the permission from the INM, then had a civil wedding, got your Acta De Matrimonio (with the judge that married you signed on it) and then just got a certified translation and that is it? I want it to be like that....... but it just sounds too easy.

what is the certificate to prove that is was legal under both laws? do I have to get that somehow. All we have is the Acta de Matimonio from the registro civil

Acta de Matrimonio is the certificate, you only need it translated.

If you're gonna use it for something like "getting divorced", you need it legalized by the mexican embassy in Canada.

trust me, I am never gonna need to use it for that. Thanks a million, will translate it as soon as possible and then the application is off to Canada

I been reading the postings here and I been wondering something.

If you guys will have the opportunity of getting married in Canada and remain in Canada for the duration of the process.

Would you apply inland or outland.

Checking the numbers it looks to me that most of the inland applications are taking around 12-14 months on the other hand outland are taking less than a year, that is assuming that everything is completed properly from the beginning.

well it depends a lot in if you can stay in Canada for 12-24 months legally.

Had we been able to be together from the beginning, times wouldn't have mattered so much

I have been in Canada for more than a year now. I applied outland and it was definately the best choice. Being able to travel without risking your application is definately a huge plus.
